I have made this for decades, I'm 77 years old and this recipe has been in my recipe book (file) since I was 20 years old. It was on a brown sugar 'box' if I remember right. I've always used walnuts probably because that is what I had and tossed in the sugar mixture just before pouring over the graham. Love the idea of sprinkling the crushed graham .
Yes!! You can buy pre-cooked pulled pork at Walmart near the Deli section. Lloyd's or Jack Daniel's has some good pulled pork. All you do is microwave it.
This was an 80s-90s at "struggle" meal without all the extra stuff. Eggs, tuna, pasta (egg noodles, bowtie pasta, or to make it pretty, some garden vegetable noodles; but usually just elbow mac), mayo and mustard to taste. Add whatever herbs and seasoning you desired/had.
I love simple recipes like this to make something delicious. Thank you for sharing! P.s. your smile is contagious and makes a meal like this feel that much more like home cooking :)
That looks very good. I bet that chicken came off the bones quite effortlessly after being in the crock pot for a lengthy amount of time. I am wondering if the excess moisture that occurs while cooking with lid on, dilutes the flavor of the chicken broth? However, it must taste wonderful 😋 ❤
I think next time I won't add the broth, cause the chicken juices would have been perfect! There was a lot of liquid when it was done. Fell off the bone like butta
@lindseymccormick472 I have to tell you, chicken doesn't taste like it used to when I was growing up. I ALWAYS have to add broth, seasonings, etc. just so it has flavor. Seems like NOTHING tastes like it did years ago. Younger people have no idea how, even a carrot really tastes. But hey, those green beans looked delectable to me! Pan fried, whole, fresh garlic green beans dressed with olive oil and a touch of ranch dressing is so very good 👍 😋
The crispy wonton makes the egg roll. My wife makes it like you do then wraps it in the wonton wrapper and either bakes or deep fries it. One of my favorite dinners.
We did KETO for a couple of years and it changed our lives! We both lost over 60 pounds and our health improved astronomically! We are no longer KETO but we eat very few carbs and no sugar at all. Good luck! @@lindseymccormick472
I have my great grandmothers rocks recipe which also has the baking soda. In her recipe, she says to dissolve the baking soda in some hot water. My guess is that is what the water is for in your recipe, too. Fun to see someone else making these😊
