The CTRL+F3 functionality didn’t work for me, perhaps something about my keyboard. It would just tab the highlighted section over. (For the Mac users reading, CMD is your CTRL, just an fyi) However, I was able to add the comment “spike” to my ribbon and now adding things to the spike is simply a button. Pasting will work also by adding the command Autotext right along side Spike in the ribbon. The only functionality I can’t replicate via this method is that Autotext doesn’t clear the material from the clipboard, so you have so that separately when done. Thank you so much, you explained this better than other sources I tried!
MAC USERS I HAVE YOUR SOLUTION! Every time you hit F3 your screen splits into a Picasso-esque mess. Infuriating, I know. You just want the spike. Well I'm going to tell you how to get it. You're going to manually change the shortcut of getting there. It's super easy, don't worry, even grandma can do it. Go to Word > Tools> Customize Keyboard (its at the very bottom) A screen should pop up showing you a list of categories. Just scroll to "All Commands" and then type in search box "Spike". From there you'll see 'Spike', now select that, and enter a new keyboard shortcut. You're basically choosing a new way to summon that action because F3 is OBVIOUSLY NOT CUTTING IT. I just chose the command key and apostrophe key. Yay you did it! But you're not done. You should also see 'InsertSpike'. You need that to be able to paste the content you copied. I chose the command key and the number 9, but hey, that's just me. Bingo bango you're all set! Now you don't have to pull your hair out and watch people online tell you things that don't work for your persnickety mac.
Thanks for the video. But have you tried printing the document? Emphasis is on the Cross Referenced link for Schedule 1. That point becomes a total mess. It seems generally for any cross referenced text to a bookmark heading becomes a total mess. Also, if for example Schedule 1 is on CAPS, the cross reference stays on caps too. How do we fixed all of that?
Hello! Great video but not quite what I was looking for. I'm working on a Word doc for my father-in-law that has horrible formatting. He prefers multiple spaces over centered text, tabs, and page breaks. It's a nightmare! Any idea on how to replace multiple spaces with single spaces when you have no idea how many spaces your dealing with?
