I have the same problem . It stopped producing power and would only run for a second like yours did . I checked the brushes and they were fine . Checked power to the brushes when it was running and would only have 12v momentarily which explained why it only put out power momentarily. Purchased the part on eBay for $20 here in Australia. I will find out in a week when it arrives 😊
Yo Idiot, That speaker frame that you popped out that had the clips on it, that is what you re-attach the new speaker to. When you do it the right way, there is no need to drill any holes. When the speaker is properly installed, you wont get a lot of rattle from the speaker, because it is not directly touching the metal door!!!!!!!!!!!!
I acquire repair and flip these generators and this line of Generac brand is on the worst there is. One had metal tank that rusted from the inside within 3 years of being new. Cleaned out the rust from the carb discarded tank and scabbed a plastic tank off a donor unit to get something usable again. These also have one of the worst carbs out there. You have to buy from them because they mask who makes their engines for them in China.
Matt clipped a zip tie when in the process of changing the AVR. Just a suggestion to anyone doing the same. the zip tie needs to be replace to avoid wiring being sucked into rotor and damaging the windings.
Maybe I couldn’t see it so good but it did not look like your drill was running full RPM only about the same as it was when ya tried the drill-spin trick 😢
I'll let you know if this works. I picked up the same model and the engine wouldn't start. I cleaned all the crap out of the tank, cleaned the carb, main jet, needle and all that jazz and it started up. No voltage (like maybe 0.8VAC on DMM. So I just ordered a avr thingie and imma try it. I'll let you know how I made out. - John
If you look to Jame's Condon his channel he does integrate work on these sort of generators and has quite a good reputation in getting of what he finds that is used to work again.
Hello, my name is Beth. Matt passed away from Covid in January of this year, I am afraid you won't get an answer to your question. Thank you for watching his videos, he was so proud of them. He was my husband and I miss him so much every single day.
Unfortunately, Matt passed away from Covid in January of this year. I am his widow, Beth. Please continue to enjoy his videos but I am afraid no one can answer your Questions. Anyone else who wants to chime into the conversation, please do so. Matt loved doing these videos. His loss hurts so much right now I can't watch them. Thank you!
This was helpful except the AVR wasn't the problem in my generator. When I opened it up, I discovered the brushes (which deliver current to the AVR) were badly worn and one of the carbon posts was broken off. Safe to say *that* is surely the problem and a replacement part is only a couple bucks. So first *check the brushes* if it runs but no power.
First thing I checked on mine . Power was only being supplied to the brushes momentarily when it was running which explained why it only made power momentarily. Hopefully the new avr fixes my problem when it arrives off eBay
Sad that the AVR went out with almost no run time. Unfortunately Generac's quality has taken a sharp decline over the years compared to what they built in the late 90's.
Generac are Over Hyped and over priced Your just paying for the NAME Look at the sticker on the Frame and see where there Made >> MADE IN CHINA !! you can buy a Gen with the Same Chinese Engine & Gen Head for a lot less Money ! Like the Predator , Black Max , Dura Max , A-iPower all have the Same Chinese engine & Gen Head just have different Recoil stater covers with there Brand Name on it .
thank you so much. I got a generac gp5500 from a friend that was dumping it. I took it home and tried this and now it works PERFECTLY. Now i own a handy reliable genset.
They make bracket adapters for mounting the speaker so you can snap it in the original hole without drilling into anything. My speakers came with them.
