Takes me back to Woodstock… just got out of the army in 1969 … Vietnam era… Started growing my bead and hair long … then I out grew that … I had to listen to this tune several times … well done …
Yeah, that's wrong. Unless TAFKA Prince was one of the 17 or so at the songwriting workshop led by Guy & Verlon where this song was written. It's a great story.
1st heard Guy Clark's name in the song, 'The Ride'. This was the 1st song I heard when I looked up the name. Beautiful. I felt every word and note when he stared flying on them frets. Beautiful. My dad's a long time picker and I shared this with him, he digs it as well.
I had only seen the freak brothers in passing before the TV show, they were familiar but not recognizable to me. Watching it I got the feeling that it was too well done to be anything near new. I am in my 50s so know about comix but don't own any. I know Crumb and some of the others... Gilbert has me looking at modern collections of his work and thinking about actively seeking some of the more classic collections from him and other artists. With the Tubi version of the Freak Brothers have been able to turn my daughter and another friend her age (early 20s) onto some of the underground comix stuff. Sort of sucks that we still have the same problems with "The Man", race relations, poverty, and the environment that people were bitching about in the 60s and 70s. It's like looking at the same issues of today through a different lens.
Still , I'm listening in 2023 .As I listen to this I find myself feeling somewhat sorry for the kids growing up today. I feel there is a large void in their life. No Guy Clark no Jerry Jeff Walker no John Prine. Artists who wrote and sang about life and connected with everyone that listened to the music. I miss them all
Great song I recorded this song last week and it came out great 😎I can imagine guy sitting in Dublin rolling cigarettes with a mad dog hangover !! Wat a tune 😀cheers from Ireland 🇮🇪
My mom would show people the eagles live, I bought her Cher live for her birthday… my uncle loved to show that blind fell Jeff healey.. I don’t show anyone anything but use this as the foundation of talent hahaha the story is so good and technically it’s beautiful
