Not my preferred game at 2 players. Scales well at 3-5. While I prefer other area control games over this, it does get fun when you have several people with varied power sets. Chaotic pandemonium.

Hello! I have a question. How are you getting a 17 point artifact as the first artifact in the game, when the artifacts are drawn in order from the lowest score to the highest score and not random? It feels like you might be playing the game wrong
Just came across your channel while searching for Curious Cargo playthroughs. I really like the relaxed vibe and how much fun you seem to be having. I think you missed the rule where you also load/unload when you play truck cards. Also, you just score the points of the rightmost free spot (you don't add them up) which would give the victory to Chrissa (35/30). Congrats on the 4th baby and here's hoping you'll pick up the playthroughs once life allows it :)
Curious to as if you guys still feel this way. I didn't love the game at first. Thought it was way overhyped but still an ok game. But after not playing for a long time I started watching some strategy videos and I started playing it on BGA and absolutely fell in love with it. I finally understood how good it truly was. There's a great discovery process that happens with this game that is very rewarding. But I understand the early criticisms because I felt very much the same way. I was done with it after a few plays. But looking back I realize I wasn't really playing the game but rather an idea of what I thought the game was. It's currently 4 on BGG and is the number 1 played game on BGA with consistently over 10,000 active games. Did you ever come back to it or just move on?
29:25 The designer have answered this on BGG. Yes, you do get Buzz from offspring who is reintroduced. This is the worst rulebook I have seen since Robison Crusoe version 1 :) So many things are not answered or shown, so thanks for the play through, did help a lot with some of these rules that is not clear.
As someone who just got the game sent from the Kickstarter, this was MUCH more helpful than the official guide video, just seeing people play it was easier to follow and you two have good camera presence! :)
Your vid actually helped me finally get this game to the table for the first time. Still learning tho. The other game that's been sitting on my shelf quite a long time is Machina Arcana - how do you like it?
Glad it helped! I haven't played Machina Arcana yet unfortunately. I got through the rulebook and then our youngest was born and I have been running on fumes since then. That will hopefully be one of the first to the table once I get back in the flow of playing more involved board games. Cheers! 🤙
That was a lot of fun, great video! I think tie-breakers are typically decided by counting the remaining bullets in your bag (fewest wins) but sudden death is a neat idea 🙂
I fully agree that it’s annoying to get items outside the box. I have a ton of games I haven’t opened and I’m sure I’ve lost a lot of extra pieces that came outside the box.
Super interesting review. I say this not negatively just as a matter of fact, I'm glad I didn't see this review earlier, I picked up the core game with spider man expansion for 15 bucks off amazon and played it for the first time tonight (several times) with my wife and 5 year old daughter and all 3 of us had a blast. I'm lightly familiar with marvel, not really a big fan but I know of it and I've seen a few of the movies, but my daughter isn't familar with marvel and my wife has sat through a couple of the movies with me but generally was bored by them and thus if anything was put off by the marvel aspect, so it was really a testament to the quality of the game play itself that we enjoyed it so much despite the lack of connection to or interest in the IP. Came on here after putting my daughter to bed to see what people were saying about it since I kind of picked it up on a whim due to the price (normally I research my games extensively before purchase) and was so pleasantly surprised by it. I'm pretty sure if I'd watched this review first before making my buying decision I would not have touched the game with a five foot poll, the gist of the review I got was that Mikey found it forgettable while Krissa absolutely hated it. Like I legit don't think I've ever seen some one hate a board game in any review I've watched as much as Krissa seems to have hated this game. Wouldn't even be willing to play it with her kids? I've played some really brain meltingly inspid stuff with my daughter, so to have those kind of feelings about this game were quite shocking. Throw in the comment at the end that the only reason anyone would ever get any enjoyment out of it was if they were fans of the IP and I definitely would have run for the hills with none of us being marvel fans and my wife disliking marvel. So... yeah, glad I didn't see this video first, since my experience was so polar opposite, but we have only played a handful of games, still in that new game honey moon phase, so maybe our opinions and experience will change as time passes. Either way, was unexpected but interesting to hear both of your thoughts, so appreciate this video. Oh, and doing a quick search I couldn't find any videos you have on any of the Forbidden games. I highly recommend staying far FAR away from those games, Forbidden Island in particular as its the simplest of the bunch, my family adores them, but Marvel United felt like rocket science compared to FI, and they have the same kind of co-op with simple set up and rules style.
The photography on those minis in the Mega is god awful. Just got my big box today. Will try to get some photos that aren't taken through a layer of Vaseline. Just pulled out a few of the ones featured here and what I received is no where near as bad as they look in the preview. They are much darker than the previews and the original pictures, but it doesn't matter much, I plan to paint all of them and the detail certainly appears to be there to work with. Just some mold lines to remove. The shading is quite heavy on the final product as compared to some of the concept photos. It definitely isn't the same, so I can see the complaint there. But I'm not seeing any significant loss of detail on first inspection. Honestly, I could tell right away that the preview photography quality was really bad, you can see the blur in the pictures, the lack of proper focus. Surprised that didn't stand out to you, but I do look at a lot of pics of minis and see this sort of issue in my own mini photography fairly often. It is a bit of a pain to get really good shots (but they should've had a better setup/photgrapher for those photos, no excuse there).
It's light, but you can definitely ramped up the difficulty to where it is difficult to win if you don't strategize around what the villain you are facing focuses on. Things can quickly snowball into a defeat. I also love the modularity of the game and the variations that all the hero/villain combinations bring. Definitely not for everyone, and if you're into heavy euros, it will not entice you as the number of choices and paths are not there. But I feel that it's a really good game for its weight. And just know that the style of design was deliberate. Eric Lang definitely knows how to go heavy, but this one was intended to be easy to pick up for anyone with or without board gaming background.

It is a lot of fun. Progressing through the various decks of cards, exploring the map and leveling your hero all keep me coming back to it. I wish there was more of a campaign/story, but they are putting out campaign books over on Gamefound. The second one is live right now. I recorded a review and the audio was lost unfortunately, I will get around to recording another at some point. It's a solid 8/10 for me. Cheers! 🤙
