Need some advice if you don't mind. Here recently my knuckle has completely disappeared on me. I've videoed from multiple angles to try to figure out the problem. Nothing appears to be any different for me. Everything is straight and tight, and my fingers are popping/extending all at the same time. Yet there is way too much rotation on the ball. This is my go-to pitch because it had always had some nasty movement to it but now it's useless. How do you suggest I get it back? Thanks in advance and also thank you for all your videos. They helped me improve my game on the rubber tremendously!
Your videos will forever be the cornerstone of my pitching career! I've had started with 10 to 20 Ks per year. Last year I've started blowing the competition that I'm now a hot commodity. Last year I finished with 50 Ks. This year with a month left in the year. I have 60 Ks and counting!
As a righty learning all these pitches, this one is the hardest. The axis starts correct and then shifts back to the right, or wobbles. Can get the screwball to break, but not this yet. Anyone else struggling with the feel, or have some tips for what they are feeling when successful? Cheers aspiring pitchers!
Thanks for all your☺great tips. With more than 10 years Senior Softball under my belt pitching is still very new. Last week we won in my first complete game, beating the team 2nd in the standings of nine team. Practice has paid off!
I just played my first slowpitch game since I was in highschool. I am 41 now. My team decided I am a pitcher (none of them want to) so I started browsing videos. My pitches aren't breaking yet, but I am actually hitting the strike zone now. Before I was all over the place and loading bases from walking them. Thanks. You are very knowledgable and a great teacher.
I have been pitching for eight years. I am a backspin pitcher and without question I know I am effective when the ball is being popped up or grounded on the field. Tonight was my opening night of the season and I was dialed in, in the first inning. the second inning I could not get the ball out of my hand. I was pitching the slider and the damn pitch broke to my pitching hand like a screwball all night long. I am right handed and I just can't the ball to turn left and jam the lefthanded batters.
I'm a petite female pitcher with tiny hands so the backspin grip doesn't work for me.. can't grab it solidly through the swing... any tips for small hands? And our arc is 6-12 feet...
Thanks for these videos! I've been pitching in a coed league for many years and the backspin is my problem. Ive got a forward spin slider and screwball and a not so consistent knuckle, but backspin pitches are my problem. Always throwing it short!
i've found a groove as a slow pitch pitcher. maybe because of my time as a bowler, I've taken to the backspin pitch as my go-to. I can't wait to try this pitch in my league, thanks! Question: What kind of batter do you think this pitch would be most effective: home run hitters or line drivers? thanks
Back in the day, males did not play "girls" softball. Just saying. It is entertaining to watch overweight, used to be jocks trying to relive their youth.
Bahahahaaaaa - those pitches are not breaking - watch from the release to the end - its a straight line - seriously - you guys swearing pitches break - you crack me up - I've been playing softball for 50 years, at very high levels - Never seen someone throw a legit breaking pitch
I love your videos but I am a female who pitches for my men's team. I have Ok size hands but I have some difficulty splitting my finger wide enough for the back spin pitches, so I have adjusted and use my 3 finger placing my middle finger directly in the middle of the semester keeping my pointer and ring finger on the side seams. It seams to work but do you have any other pointers for me.
I throw what I call a 'riser' a rising fastball, a screwball, a curve, a sinker, and this palmball. At 69 wondering if I'm over doing this at the senior league at 69.
I just started pitching and working on my reps. I am a left handed pitcher. I’m having a hard time to get the ball to break-in on right handed batters. What can you recommend to improve my pitching.
I already throw backhanded. But, I generally use 3 fingers instead of 2. Do you think that the same principles apply if I put the index and ring fingers wide by the seams and float the middle finger?
The reason the knuckle is not your favorite pitch is the same reason no hitter wants to hit it. Quality knuckle ball, best pitch in the game in my opinion.
I am like Rudy an older player pitcher, can’t wait for ball season to be back herein BC . Been trying to do the muscle memory, and grips. Thxs BC Billy
