Set against a backdrop of the iconic Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank, bluedot combines a truly stellar line-up of music with a ground-breaking programme of live science experiments, expert talks and immersive artworks.
In an era of political divisiveness and environmental uncertainty, bluedot aims to cultivate a unifying celebration for citizens of the world. Its 2017 message is loud and clear: look again at that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. (Carl Sagan, 1934-1996).
OUR MISSION To inspire and entertain. To explore the frontiers of human advancement. To celebrate science and the exploration of the universe. To explore the intersections of science, culture, art and technology. To highlight the fragility of planet Earth.
Just for the record, did they manage to have John Ennis in their music video and then cover Johnathan Richman within the same 12-month period? Just reaffirms my love.
JB was the first science presenter I ever watched on TV, I was 7 and it was during countdown to Apollo 11. Any of the top kids TV shows of the day took a back seat when this guy was working in front of the camera, an absolute legend.
Great energy. This world needs more of it. They’re musically very talented no matter where they came from. Glad they dropped in to make some fantastic music.
Seen The Orb so many times since the 90s.. Love how they build this hypnotic groove and before you know it, your off in a world of yer own and dancing in anyway that fits what's being played.. Still great now..
Such a great vibe to this track. Britain really does produce some talent. And that's coming from an American. Loving The Orb and also other various UK electronica based acts like Faithless, Burial, Chemical Brothers, Underworld, UNKLE, Autechre, Massive Attack, Orbital, The Prodigy, Leftfield, Stereo MCs, The Streets, Goldie, FSOL, The Bug, ALLFLAWS
Amen to that. If it is of any interest to you I would add these truly noteworthy ones to your list: Loop Guru, Dread Zone, Black Star Liner, Lemon Jelly and Pitch Black.
Saw this last year in Hull at the Adelphi and very quickly became my new favorite band. Seen them again at The Parish in Huddersfield and have to say they were as good as the first time I saw them. Just an amazing spaced out musical journey… love it! 🙌🙌🙌
The Real Thing (1980) episode 2, he did the same type of thing with a rollercoaster at Blackpool, it appeared as he pointed over to the track to then go down a dip. Easier to do with a rollercoaster, still looked good though!
The true genius of a great DJ revolves around the sampling, the timing, the cadence and most of all the selection of music and artists they choose to play with. Lavelle has demonstrated that he’s a master of all of these. Mad love to you James!
