This is a cute story, but if you care your pup's back, then put it on a diet. Trust me, you don't want to see him/her jump off the couch and then can no longer use their back legs. Not hating, just telling you through painful experience.
You should see one chase Deer across a snow covered field. I caught up with him about 10 minutes later, edge of the woods, top of the hill. "They got away, I tried, but they got away!!!" Should've seen that chest busting snow drifts!!!
Oh boy its a good thing you had your guard basset there with you! Who knows what those deer could have done if he wasnt there! They may have even stayed long enough to poop in your yard and that would have been something super fine to roll in later
My mother's aggressive little Toy Manchester went after a deer in the yard. My mother laughed so hard she cried, but then was afraid the deer would kick the dog. The deer just lowered its head, snorted at the dog, and then jumped over the fence.
My husband called our basset daisy a window warrior becuase she will bark at the one by the door and in the car but when she comes out she’s a sweetheart to the dog she was barking and growling at. No more tough dog when she’s not behind something lol
