My favorite monster of all time is Count Dracula. I know that many people associate him with Bela Lugosi . After all he was the first actor to portray the count on the big screen with his mannerisms and accent that pretty much defined the character to the world. ( I don’t count the Max nosferatu version as the first). Anyway my personal favorite Dracula of all time is the wonderful Mr. Christopher Lee . His portrayal of Dracula for the Hammer Films was simply amazing. Even though he was sort of forced to do them after the first one because of his kind nature.(He kept his fellow actors in a job). The rich lavish colors and the sets are burned into my mind. I remember buying all the horror magazines with him on the cover especially Famous Monsters of Filmland. As a child I remember going to the ads in the back and ordering the ones I didn’t have with Christopher on the cover. Now I have all the Hammer Dracula films on dvd to watch and enjoy anytime I want. Especially now that Halloween is here. Also let’s not forget the great Peter Cushing. What a wonderful human being. I really enjoy your show. These conventions look awesome. What magic it must have been. Love Jim Warren. Looking forward to the next episode. From one monster kid to another take care and Happy Halloween 🎃
4:46 Forced indifference is the first step in coming over to the Gobot Side 😈 Some day soon you’ll actually see an obscure Gobot item that will make you think “Wow, that’s actually kinda cool”, and from there it’s a slippery slope leading directly to writing Gobot romance fanfics 😆
Thanks as always for the coverage guys! 😁👍 Had a feeling the movie may have been “M”, certainly the most notoriously _monsterous_ role of Lorre’s career, short of being a conventional monster 😖
Wow, this is great! My brother and I used to get two magazines. “ Castle Of Frankenstein “ and “ Famous Monsters of Filmland “. Forry is really missed. Glad Jim Warren is still with us. Talk about memories.
Great video I'm a Famous Monster fan grew up on the magazine. James Warren he is a treasure would have liked to meet him. My favorite monster hands down has got to be The Wolfman! Loved the interview with Mr.Warren. Keith Hedges
I am massively impressed with the significant increase in production values on your videos. The voiceovers really add to the quality of the videos. I’m also super, super jealous of all of the shows that seem to be in your general area. I wish Chicago got even a third as many. Loved the interaction with Mr. Warren! Keep up the good work. Oh, and my favorite monster is Lugosi’s Dracula.
my favorite monster is the THING from 1982. but fav classic monster would be the creature from the Black Lagoon. thank you for all your hard work. I live in lancaster PA so i know someday ill run into you two at a event
Frankenstein, cause it was the first monster movie I saw at around 5 or 6 years old. Channel 4 here in Delaware in the 80s on Saturdays played monster movies. It became my sons favorite when I introduced him to the universal monsters movies when he was younger.
Bummed...I had planned to attend with my son, but things fell through. Fav classic monster? I have an affinity for werewolves, and love watching the various incarnations on film, but...fav has to be the Creature from the Black Lagoon! There are plenty of films of varied versions of vampires, mummies, werewolves, etc. The Creature stands alone!
My favorite Monster is the Cyclops from The 7th Voyage of Sinbad.Anther reason is it reminds me of a Dark Ride in Coney Island when I was a kid that had a giant Moving Eye.
Jim Warren, what a legend. Still pretty spritely at 94. Looks like he was so generous with his time with you guys. Since Amy mentioned how he had so many great stories... Have you guys read _Empire of Monsters_ - the Jim Warren biography by Bill Schelly. Jim's a colourful character alright. Led an adventurous life. Bit of a playboy, lol. Great read. Highly recommend. Legit mind-blowing the roll call of talent who worked at Warren Publishing over the years - Neal Adams, Steve Ditko, Frank Frazetta, Carmine Infantino, Angelo Torres, Gloria Steinem, Jack Davis, Vaughn Bode, HR Giger and more, so many more... .
My family owned a book store back in the 60's and I was working there when I was 6 and my sister was 7 . I saw / sold a lot of Warren magazines during the 60's to the 80's. Most of my magazine collection was lost to a flood in the 70's and I was upset over this and sold the rest many 1st issues back in these days they weren't gold as they are now , I owned my own store in the 80's and the story Mr Warren was saying about the distributors and churchs are true, I was there. Great videos you two put out here brings back memories and history of all this collecting ..the new stuff is selling for the simple reason it wasn't made back then. We are looking forward to meeting you two again " Happy Collecting "
Enjoy your videos! I’m 72 and grew up watching all the original monster movies. Lived outside of Philadelphia and loved Dr Shock. Sad to say never appreciated modern horror as much as the Universal ones. Just reread HG Wells The Invisible Man classic book. Will be purchasing the classic books that the movies are loosely based on. One of my first jobs was working in a grocery store called Jerry’s Market in Royersford. The freezer scene in the Blob was filmed there. So I will have to go with the Blob! Continue your excellent videos! 👍👍😎
That was a great interview my man, I bet he has a lot of great stories to tell for mr. warren is living monster history, and this interview is now monster history for all to see because of you two groovy creepy cats, thank you for this. It would be really hard for me to choose a favorite monster for I dig em all, but I have to say I really like draculas style.
Incredible Legend, Mr. Warren. I wonder if he was referring to Peter Lorre's role in M(1931). Great, creepy film. Peter Lorre's performance in M, makes Freddy Krueger look like a Saint. Also. Interesting fact. Peter Lorre's daughter, Catharine, was once picked by the Hillside Stranglers'. It made headlines.
