This could be my favourite recording of all time. The juxtaposition of Alan’s flabbergasted with joy and excitment introduction with the let down of Cheryl’s huffing and puffing until she cottons on about the dubbing issue is just 👌. Do this version for your next karaoke track - you won’t regret it.
She really saved the performance near the end. I think what threw it off was a combination of messed up audio, her mic cutting out and also her dancing. How can you hit a note perfectly whilst dancing? You can't. It'd be damn near impossible. I think her in-ear monitor also threw her off too, as it must've been slightly delayed by a few seconds.
This is clearly a problem with the sound engineers that didn’t do their job correctly. Either she couldn’t hear herself, or she tried to lip-sync cause she has to dance so much. But halfway through she starts singing and her vocals are pretty good actually so either she forgot to sing or thought the playback was on
I know that she is not singing a single note in this performance (first half is without prerecorded vocals and the second one is with them). But putting this dance routine, holding a mic in her hand and wearing high hills deserves some recognition people! Britney does the lip sync all the time, she always has a head mic and in most of her routines are nowhere near as dynamic, she’s walking around the stage or is carried by her dancers.
I just realised. She danced to very hard choreo in heels, I have danced I heels before when I wore heels for the first time at prom but I don't think I can dance in heels with choreo like that
She thought she was gonna be lip syncing and didn’t know the track wasn’t playing, then she figured it out by someone on her team getting her attention cuz her ear piece had fallen out and then they bumped up the backing track so she could finally start singing along and do so live. She actually sings very well, especially this song very well so I’m not sure why people are here saying she can’t sing. I was going along with all the comments because I’m an American and couldn’t tell what went wrong at first and had never heard her sing before but she can most definitely sing. She honestly killed it when she realized the error and you could tell she was disappointed in it but she danced her butt off for stand up to cancer.
Cheryl wasn't busy, she literally decided with her team that she would mime her act because she couldn't be bothered, which is why she blamed the sound engineering team who did the show, rather than take accountability herself. Cheryl was awful, not only in performance, but out of performance too. I'm kind of wishing that black toilet attendant had been stronger all them years ago....
the whole performance was supposed to be lip synced, no hate but even when the vocals kicked in you can tell they slowly started to fade in the backing vocals at 1:33 and then the lead vocals so it sounded more like a "mic issue". When an artist lip syncs its all different tracks from the instrumentals to the backing vocals and leads so it sounds more like its a "live" performance and they can change the placing off each.
