Hi, I am Whack! We like to build highly detailed creations in Vehicle games like Stormworks. If you like my builds check out my Steam workshop page, and come back to see how we made them!
It’s hard for me to say as I don’t really know when it’s done, is when I feel like I don’t need to do any more work! I have been working on it a lot lately trying to get this build done as soon as I can, they just take quite a while!
The channel is still pretty new! This build and the submarine build were the first to use a mic so you’re not too late to the party! Thanks for the support more builds will come!
Its really coming together man. I know you have some drones but a micro fighter (wimbrell sized) would be a cool and goofy auxiliary creation for this carrier. Keep it up Whack.
This looks pretty good for a scaled-down carrier. The little details like the anchor windlass room help the ship feel more real. Have you been on a carrier before?
@@MalikStewart95 I have not been on a carrier, but I have spent much time on ships, and have been on many warship. These spaces like the anchor room and outdoor decks I think are very important to help it feel like a real carrier!
I try to think a lot about how the spaces make you feel. This is why there are a lot of deck spaces that are seemingly not that useful, but they give the feeling you are on a big carrier and I think this is really important!
Please Whack, in the last video of this series, make an "cinematic" with all sistems working, its was very cool for demonstrate the final result of the project! What you think about a make one vtol jet for landing or teakoff with the catapulte?
I think you should try and make the front door kind of look like an LST where the hall opens to either side then a ramp comes down because right now it kind of looks like a pug With a smashed in face
The outside of the ship will changed quite a bit, the main lift will be placed in three floor where vehicles can be easily driven on as well as full size cargo containers. The lift will go into a big hangar space, the ship is too tall to make a practical ramp over the wheels, the ramp would have to be enormous, the wheels sit at about 4 meters high….
I thought about a ramp to begin with, if you work out a decent slope that is drivable it would have to be around 16-20m in length I figured it’s easier to just make a lift!
you could try using a reaction wheel, or ducted fans could be used in the inside they are a little smaller. The blimp will likely rotate to always face the wind when it’s not moving. A reaction wheel is usable here but they are heavy so I would lean more towards a ducted fan!
@@WhackAL the weight IS No Problem i can use my lift Like a Tandem Heli i can Upload IT AS a wip when im done so you can try IT Out and ITS way to big for the reaction weels and ducted Fans are to noisy for a blimp
6:19 Numerical Junction. pilot seat for amphibious vehicles, wheel on land, propeller on water. Both systems can be controlled from a chair. I have solved the A/D output in most of my vehicles, Numerical Junction controls the wheel, I switch the Robotic Pivot Power to Azimuth Thruster. W/S is the same principle, two clutches switch the drive between the wheel and the propeller.
Not only do large, realistically sized carriers need to be spawned with a modded workbench, but they need to be broken into multiple "vehicles" because of the file size limitations in SW. I tried making the hull of a realistic sized carrier, but I ran into the file size issue very quickly. Huge ships also make my computer want to alt+f4 itself, because the physics calculations are so intensive. It's unplayable when I spawn in even just large ships which fit in the standard workbench. (like 15-30 physics fps = quarter to half speed playing)
These are all things I am hoping to avoid, really the goal is to have a very detailed ship that feels and can be played like a carrier without having to manage a 400m long boat and it’s the annoyances that come with something that size!
It already looks really cool. I'm usually not into the military stuff in stormworks but I think even at this early stage I'm looking forward to exploring it.
Thank you, I usually try to make the ships very realistic while also thinking a lot about the play aspect of the game! I hope you enjoy it when it’s done, I might even make a SAR version!
Well I kinda wanna make a big orange carrier….aaaand it is the perfect excuse to make a non DLC version of the ship. I won’t really make a big fuss of it but in time I will likely have a search and rescue version!
I think an expansion on the carriers elevator would be a big deal, and should be looked at. Im concerned as to the size of helicopters that can make it bellow deck. maybe have a flap that folds out like the front of the carrier does?
The lift is proportionally large to the height of the hangar bay, it is unlikely a helicopter will be be too wide for the lift while not being too tall, the other reason it is this small is because the smaller ship will not be able to support that large of masses hanging off the side of the deck!
