This doesn't explain *why* people moved from Unity to Godot. Unity made some pretty bad business practices that were walked away only recently, and burned a lot of good faith away. With people getting fed up with Unity and its hostile changes, they were looking to change to different engines. In a sense, it was all about getting the right timing to slide into other people's lives. It's *different* and *different is good* especially when you're expanding scope for your portfolio.
135 / 5,000 Blender is behind Houdini and Maya in many aspects, it is not the best, it is the most complete. Its community is the most toxic and fanatic.
I am just a beginner, but what i can tell is to watch devlogs of other game developers, to see how they are making their game, just from watching you can get a lot of information.
@@anydev I make my own project so do you want to combine? Not with the projects but with a workspace and knowledge sharing discord server? I wrote a first message but i think it got deleted.
I recently started learning game development in my free time and encountered a recurring issue with Godot 4. When I attempt to save after navigating through some child nodes, the application suddenly freezes and becomes unresponsive. Despite searching for solutions, I haven't found any fixes. I even went as far as deleting the project I just started with to learn game development, again downloading & extracting Godot 4, and updating my graphics driver. My laptop has a Ryzen 5 processor, so I'm unsure what's causing the problem. Consequently, I've decided to switch to Unity and begin my game development journey with 2D projects.
Don't forget about Pixelorama. This is a free editor to make and animation pixelart images - such an alternative to Asesprite. And it was made in... Godot! :) And Blockbench is a free low-poly 3D model editor, not hard to learn.
i’ve been a godot user since early godot 3 and i love the engine because of how easy and small it is. no fees, no splash screen, customizable rendering, i love godot ❤
