Animation and story telling at its finest. I adore this song, it is so peaceful and full of hope. Today's movies just don't leave you with this kind of feeling. The movie was made in 1982 and we are still talking about it. All of our dreams fly when we hear this beautiful melody.
watched this movie as a little kid. just watched it again in my late teens and I am convinced that It is on e of the most beautiful and sincere creations that is more mature than the modern films beig made today. love is the key thank you
It’s so great seeing how many people are still moved by the song. It’s so simple, and not something you would think is so powerful. But it somehow captures magic and innocence and hope. And most of all, love. It is such a nostalgic feeling that I am transported to every time I hear it.
happy 40th anniversary secret of nimh!!! :3 favorite don bluth work along with the land before time, dragon's lair/space ace,all dogs go to heaven & an american tail.
It's an shame that Disney rejects of making Secret Of NIMH when Don Bluth suggests to them, but we glad Bluth left the company and made this masterpiece.
I can't make out everything in the lyrics, but I can understand some snippets (wherever I put an ellipsis, the vocals are unintelligible to me) 2:25 "...technology" 2:26 "[transcend all?]" 2:28 "...spiritual nature" 2:29 "is complete cosmic infestation, the purpose in all of human existence" 2:34 "[emphasis?]" 2:36 "...ALL entities, [that's] all it is" 2:39 "there is no end, there is no beginning, and there is no middle to all of this..." 2:44 "a third of [us?/lost?...it sounds like it starts with an H, but I can't think of anything that fits here] can see" 2:46 "so, the great, warrior-centric [places of?/places know?] [of which?]:" 2:50 "Time, Destroyer of All Worlds; time is the destroyer of all worlds" These lyrics intrigue me. Were they sampled from somewhere? Were they a poem that the remixer wrote specifically for this song? We may never know...
only a few selected songs in my lifetime that made me cry a tear for no apparnt reason. This is one of them. Dam onions. *sobs....maybe i miss my childhood, ....my departed momma. :(
A truly beautiful song from one of Don Bluth's best films! Everything about this version works perfectly together. The lovely lyrics, Paul Williams's warm vocals, and Jerry Goldsmith's fantastic score all come together to form a wonderfully romantic retooling of the Sally Stevens lullaby that appears within the film. Such a fantastic film and song from a bygone era of animation that was special in every way!

My first favorite Don Bluth movie song ! So warm and gentle! Like this version the best too. When I finally got the CD in my twenties I cried happy tears!
