When I was a kid many many years ago I remember Arriva had manual plaxton beaver minibuses, when the bus was stationary and when setting off the driver always started out in 2nd gear, there was a note in the drivers cab explaining why but I can’t remember exactly what it said, I think the driver used 1st gear to get up a steep hill.
Splash/16965 (the bus in this video) is still in service and Stagecoach have recently been loaning him and his sister Lolly (16962) to the Skegness depot constantly. The reason behind this is because the old Tridents were recently replaced by Enviro 400 Hybrids from Manchester- and the hybrids had to be constantly towed back to the depot due to them breaking down all the time. I rode Splash back in May but he had hoovering fans. Didn't bother me tho, i actually found it very amusing listening to the obnoxiously loud hoover like some B7TLs have! 😆😆😆 However, i did wear some ear protection, JUST INCASE. 🤣 Also, i really love that announcement chime at 0:14
I’m really confused why they have added 54 to Stagecoach because it’s so bizarre that it only runs in weekdays and Saturdays evenings and runs pretty much all day on Sunday? Why is this? Btw lovley video :)
Now that this service is back, I'm thinking about taking it one day, but with the frequency and where I live, it's sadly unlikely. Thankfully these videos exist so I can see what it would have looked like
the 643 used to run from whickham to Westerhope in early 90s by Andersons of Westerhope when andersons finished ok travel took over the 643 from Newcastle to whickham
Nice video, how long did you wait to claim the front seats. I was there with 20 minutes wait and there was already a queue! So unfortunately, I couldn't film this.
E38 is a fucking monster. Always was. I had a run on 320 when it run at Orpington and to say it was maxed is an understatement. This thing climbs hills like they aren't there.
1 year later this bus has taken an unfortunate turn for the worst. The engine is constantly overheating, the belt always screams and the cooling fan sounds like a hoover 😭
Well it's sounded like an A.E.C. REGENT MK.V fitted with an A.E C. D166 4-speed synchromesh gearbox in a very unusual strange way? Viatron had discovered.
Very nice video! One question: Does the train have backup batteries for the traction motors? Because at 1:07 you can clearly see that it is operation with its pantographo lowered!
