For the most part the weapons more than make up for weak attack gains but yeah there is really no accounting for other factors like having a decent balance of health and defense which only a few are going to have. Even then there are only so many end game weapons to go around.

@@Farimere how is this issue normally handled in the speed run? Or do you just restart if your gains are too bad? Though I guess normally you'd have double the party size in the normal speed run.

@@roymerkel8008 For speedruns it depends heavily on what Max's stats are at lvl 4 as he would have to outturn rune knights in 1-3 after levelling and needs to reliably kill the knights in 1-4 in one hit after 1-2 power potions. Tao just needs or would be nice to have high early MP growths but she catches up later on anyways. After that its mainly how Balbaroy grows. Save scumming levels after Chapter 1 is quite the desperate move.

I honestly could do it just certain maps like 2-4 would be difficult but I am letting Max be an honorary knight as its less of a headache.

~1:47:00 -- with all the bat sleep makes me wonder what a "mages" (and Max) only run would look like. Though I'm guessing the ability to burn stuff down with magic might make the bats and Zombies mute, potentially. (Forgive my ignorance, only played the game twice and quit in the first chapter both times, so I'm mostly going off a knowledge of genre tropes and patterns)

The moment I remembered that everyone hireable had a dialogue if they were upset with you I had to do this.
