I had an issue with the valve control board. My filter sat for 2 years with water in it. It was never really started up. I’ve finally got around to installing the new board, do I just flush or will I have a problem? It is not a softener just a filter.
Has had NO effect, NONE, on the level of calcium and lime scale in our home. Cannot recommend; we will have to replace with another water softener, and since our neighbors on the same water system have had success with traditional salt based system, that is what we will install. I hate that we spent this money on this system, as it is not up to the task of softening hard water.
For anyone seriously considering this product... you may want to think twice. I did a quick search and found a few investigations, civil lawsuits, and complaints made to official government agencies about Housetron Technologies, Inc. In 2017, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a complaint against Housetron Technologies, Inc., alleging that the company made false and misleading claims about its products. The FTC alleged that Housetron Technologies, Inc., claimed that its products could "remove limescale, rust, and other deposits from pipes and appliances" and "save you money on water and energy bills." The FTC also alleged that Housetron Technologies, Inc., made false claims about the safety of its products. The FTC reached a settlement with Housetron Technologies, Inc., in which the company agreed to pay $250,000 in consumer refunds and to stop making the false and misleading claims. In 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Housetron Technologies, Inc., alleging that the company's products did not work as advertised. The lawsuit alleged that Housetron Technologies, Inc., sold its products with false claims about the ability of the products to remove limescale and other deposits from pipes and appliances. The lawsuit is still pending. In 2019, the Texas Attorney General's Office filed a lawsuit against Housetron Technologies, Inc., alleging that the company's products were defective and dangerous. The lawsuit alleged that Housetron Technologies, Inc., sold its products with false claims about the safety of the products. The lawsuit is still pending. I also found a few complaints about Housetron Technologies, Inc., made to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The BBB has given Housetron Technologies, Inc., an "F" rating. The complaints to the BBB allege that Housetron Technologies, Inc., did not deliver products that were as advertised, did not refund money for products that were not as advertised, and did not respond to customer complaints.
So you have what looks like a 3 inch or so water pipe, then it gets restricted down to about 1-1/2 inches for the Scaletron, then back to 3 inch. Good job at poor component selection and creating a huge flow restriction.
The brine tank is filled with salt. The salt you will have to refill yourself monthly. A bag of salt might only run you $5 or $10. In the long run this saves you from having to buy new appliances due to hard water. Hope this helps :)
Great video. What happens to the resin if salt is not added for extended periods of time? Of course the water will be hard in your tap but can the resin be regenerated still even with a significant level of buil up? Thanks
Good video, except that all of the Ca & Mg ions aren't exchanged with the Na ions. Some get through. That's why you need a RO system in addition to the water softener.
Had ours for 5 years. Love it. Hate water softeners and slight taste of saline in the tap water. No calcium buildup in toilet tanks or tankless water heater.
Though not a scientist, I am well educated and a good handy man. Tthis is the first source that gave me an understanding of how this fing thing works. THANK YOU!
Sounds to me like all the chemical reactions (if they can be called that) are happening with these ion exchange beeds you mention. I have an old brine tank with dried up salt I would like to extract and put into a new brine tank. Would it be okay to fill the old brine tank with purified water to make the salt into a slurry that I can pour into the new tank? The dried up salt is like a huge rock and very hard to move. We've been picking away at it for months. Anyone who knows can email me at: HeavyMetalCookies@Gmail.com
Thanks ! Very nice tutorial video ! Q. Since extra Sodium Ions ( SALT ) is added to the water going into the house, is this water generally drinkable ? is their excess salt in the water ?
it is drinkable, the qty of Na in the water is negligible... unless you are hypertensive and have too much salt in your own system, then you may want to put a kitchen sink filter in like a pur or something. I know this was from a year ago, but hopefully you got your softener and are doing well.
So i was skeptical about NaturalSof but installed one on my home and had issues with my hard water and trying to keep my black granite counter tops clean and before i installed it we had a lot of maintenance and had to use razor blades and lime away to try and keep them cleaned. After a couple of weeks after i installed the Naturalsof on my water main we started realizing that the water spots were easily wiped away with just paper towel and that's it. I flushed out my hot water heater and could not believe all the broken down hardness that was in the hot water heater and now have much hotter water. So yes hard to believe but i am a believer . I recommend this product for anyone that has hard water. I am in the commercial AC business and am going to give this a try on some of our projects. Thank you
