God that really suxs! I was about to order the 390 outback explorer, but not no more. Time to checkout the Seajay Nomad. Thanks so much for the heads up! 😮
I’ve been considering one of these boats but will now find something different with thicker aluminium. 1.6mm is just too thin for a hull in my opinion.
The local quintrex dealer was very good and even loaned me a similar boat for the time mine was out of serrvice about 6 weeks they alsp replaced under warranty the 30 hp Evinrude eteck that. No one could repair. Electric al problem causing the motor to go from hiigh reve to idle for no reason
Had no trouble with Quintrex in getting my boat replaced boat was.sent back.to.brisbane after the first repair failed and they.agreed the boat could not be repaired and guaranteed not to crack.again so.the.gave me a new boat as well as change all.extras.over have no problems with the afte😮r sales back
I had.the.same.problem same boat same place.quinterx had it repaired.but.cracked at the weld again cause unknown. The boat was only used on the Murray River on smooth conditions Quintrex replaced the hull under warranty but it cost me 1000$ to cover the.differenve in price between my.hull and the replacement due to supposed price rise
@@Whitty556 the shop took it in, ordered extra parts to reinforce the section of the boat that is known for splitting, then re-welded the crack. They knew exactly what was needed and how to go about it because it had already happened to multiple others from there store!
@@blakehardingham6211 wow that’s pretty epic service but realistically quintrex need to do this from the factory if it’s going to happen with these boats .
Not sure matey I’ve still got it . Just sits under the cover now I’ll probably give the hull away to a mate if he wants to try repair it I have a new Stabicraft now
I dunno but it looks like you may have hit something, the design isn't what the old blade hull was. I hit a gator at 25 knots and thought I'd hit a submerged log. It barely dinged the hull.
@@glenwilkie1331 yeah sadly they just stopped replying to emails I don’t care anymore I just use it as a thrasher as I put some 2mm ally over it and riveted it so it’s just a spare boat now . Have a nice stabi 1550 which rocks
this waas really based on my long boating time on the water i knew thiswas really far too thing Alloys on these boats was a re the issues the makers was needed tobe held responsible they can be heald liable in case somone dies in these boats in future thiswaas my reason im staying away from these boats in future they are dangers in future thiswas my views on these boat needed tobe inspected as the boat registration people need to have a mandatory boat inspections for tinny boats to help future boater stay safe in future im have to warn people about this now in future thiswas my safety message in future thiswas really my warning for the boat owners to check the welds very carefuly in case you see thiswas get rid of that boat and go and get a fiberglass boat instead thiswas safer the fiberglass boats was are safer id say thiswas my views in the boat in trade mate
same with me as im thinking of getting a tinny but i have a second thoughts as i alway got boats that are really supposedly good these tinnies but now im really started to think they are dangers on the water so now im thinking of getting a sec hand Haines hunter boat instead thiswas really does worry me the most with these boats as im a disabled boater i have to see thiswas a safety issues with these boats as now im rather really do stay away from these boats in future so im thinking of getting a Fiberglass boat now thiswas based on my boating knowledge as you say thiswas really dangerous in future if an accident ever happens with these boats in future they are really dangerous in future if the maker wont help sell up and get a fiberglass boat instead mate im going in that path now as you said im worried about these boats in future owners hands this was why i rather use a fiberglass boat instead thiswas based on my time in the boating trade as an outboard mechanic as i knew the boat trade will need to warn people about these boats i say really dont buy these boats as they are really are dangers in future thiswas what i knew in the boating trade in my knowldge i see thiswas all the time as i knew these boats in my use willbe dangers as far the welding was good enough why the boat makers was forced to fix the boat for the boaties who complained about the craks in the welding and related issues this was why im goin fiberglass for good No tinnies for me now
Had many a cracked tinny, caused by flexing of the aluminum - the sea belting in inwards, your feet pushing it outwards. The web site says models are a light weight roof top tinny with only 1.6mm alum sheet. The heavy anchor and line looks like you must be using the boat in some pretty heavy seas, rather than an outback creek. I suggest you change you boat to something with a 3mm bottom plate, or learn how to weld.
It’s only a 1.6mm ally on the hull to put it simply it’s not built at all for what your doing with it had mine for 2 years with no problem now upgrading to the trophy as I want to go offshore more and the trophy is 3mm ally. Put simply do your research next time and spend the extra money to get something actually suited for your intended use
Fair call mate but this thing broke in very small chop and it’s only got a small 20 go on it. I’ve ordered a 1450 stabi , just on the wait list for another six or so months
I was thinking of getting this but I’m having second thoughts now. I know Stacer is also made in the same warehouse. Let us know what boat you decide to get next.
Gave up they just said improper use . Bought myself a stabi I still have the quintrex I’ve patched up the bow with 2mm ally riveted on with tonnes of sickaflex. Using it as a lagoon only boat
Yep just brought a F370 and it’s cracked in the same spot. Not going to bother with hassle of fighting it out with Quintrex, will get both sides welded up and look at strengthening it up to stop the flexing of it.
Damn, I was thinking of getting one of these. Is that the trailer you normally tow it with? There's no cradle to winch to, to support the bow and the front roller isn't supporting the keel either. With the amount of flex you get towing a boat trailer, if that roller is hitting the boat instead of supporting it, then the oil canning effect will crack the boat at its weakest point. The welds along the keel. Don't forget, they're only 1.6mm floor sheets. Good luck with everything. Try the ombudsman as suggested by others.
Had the same issue on both sides the same spot I just paid a professional welder to fix it cost me $150 been perfect since then I did not even bother contacting dealer as I new it would be be worth the hassle ps exact same boat exact same fault
I had the exact same thing happen to my f390 and yes fixed the first side then the other side happened on the exact same spot opposite side I did not even bother with warranty claim I just paid weld to fix it cost me like $150 Now it’s perfect
mate I have an older version if the 390 im on the centre coast nsw near Sydney I was coming back in a following sea just on plan nose up and it was flexing bad its the hull
I would be taking it further and demanding a new boat.Definitely a manufacture issue.I wouldn’t have even coped what you did the first time.Sorry this has happened.
It's in the quintrex warranty that they won't pay freight for repairs unfortunately so If you live in a remote area like I do you are up for a hefty freight bill. $1450 in my case
I had a similar problem with a boat I bought, the manufacturer paid for my local alloy welder to do a repair. Just after the 2 year warranty ran over it split again. I hit the manufacturer up but they said bad luck which I thought was unfair. I got onto an ombudsman which is a free service. The manufacturer ended up not only having to do a new guaranteed repair for free, they also paid me for the devaluation of the boat. If I where you I would try to work it out with the manufacturer for a fair deal for guaranteed repair and freight cost and if they don’t come to the party go to the ombudsman as your being treated unfairly since the boat is not meeting it’s guaranteed warranty.
@@Whitty556 I linked a product for you mate, hopefully they replace the hull but if not the linked brazing rods are made for aluminiu, all you need is a blow torch or oxy
