For the twist ones I just use a pair on needle nose for normal style I put a flat head between the pad and rotor and lightly pry to compress the caliper

You need a caliper piston tool kit, AutoZone or Oh Reilly's, those pistons need to be rotated clockwise to be "pushed" back in
