My laptop has 80mb/s write speeds everyone on the internet says that an ssd helps a lot, so I am looking to see if it makes sense to me to get an ssd and put in on this thing.
I just did 2 drain and fills on my wife's 2017 Honda Pilot touring that is 9 speed which requires 3.1 ATF Fluid. Honda 3.1 ATF Fluid is about $40 a quart. Walmart and Amazon had the gallons of Valvoline Maxlife for about $25. My wife noticed a huge difference in shifting. Much smoother. I couldn't agree with you more on this being the best ATF for Hondas. I will be using on my 2016 Honda Accord too since its good for DW1 too.
Hi there I have a Mercedes and that is the oil that I use my opinion to why so cheap is I think that’s the old formula not the FS updated one or it’s expired nothing wrong with the old formula it’s just a little less molybdenum and boron and zinc to find out if it’s the old formula look on the bottle if it says FS it doesn’t it’s the old formula
The quality of that Wix filter could change at any moment since Mann & Hummel owns both Wix & Purolator. Wix has downgraded some of their filters and their overall quality has definitely slipped. Just be cautious of every filter you purchase no matter the name. I now inspect every filter with a flashlight & 200+ glasses to look for defects. A dent, closed louvers, metal shavings, dirt, excess glue, etc. Any of that gets rejected. Plus I give it a shake to see if anything is rattling.
I have been using Havoline since 1985 when before Chevron it was under the Texaco name. The LifeLong is what I have been using since the Pro-DS G5 was phased out. The Additive package is excellent. I have found a couple of the G5 boxes of which I will use them as well without fear. My cars are low mileage and both 2019 Toyotas. One thing I change my oil every six months regardless of mileage due to port and GDI injection on them dilutes the oil quicker.
Simple but smart, it works. Thanks for the info and new way of removing rusted screws. Never thought about using one side of a screw to break the rust of a screw. Thanks.
@@LuckyVagabond I INDIA we use Sofima, Mahle, Mahle Purolator, or Hyundai genuine oil filters as HONDA Oil filters alternative I have 2009 HONDA CITY I-VTEC HONDA Cars INDIA don't do count sell of spair parts it's very difficult to source genuine spair parts
Aw man, that’s a bummer. I just got done from replacing my Alternator on a 2012 Pilot. Luckily, old alternator didn’t look all oily/dirty and it didn’t look like I had that leak you mentioned. They really are ridiculously priced! Not sure if you’re familiar with RockAuto. That is where I ordered the replacement Denso alternator $250 total with core. I understand sometimes in a bind can’t wait for the shipping but they had it at a great price. Great video.
If you are looking at a Wix filter make sure you check it before putting it on the car. The past 5 of them I have bought have been mann hummell variants and every single one of them has had closed louvers or louvers that are barely open more than a hairs width. This means they will bypass 100% of the time and never actually filter oil.
That sucks. Why can't we just get well made filters. Seems like everything is going to crap. I shouldn't have to do QC on an oil filter. Thanks for the heads up.
@@LuckyVagabond I agree. I have moved to using stp gold box filters and microgard select where stp does not make the correct application. Stp has 99% at 20 micron filtration ratings and microgard is at 99% at 25. Both are good respectable numbers but the stp is slightly better. Also I am not a stranger to fram tough guards, mobile 1, or fram ultra filters.
@miasmicmonky13 all great options, but so much more expensive. You should be able to buy a decent quality filter for $7 or less. I'm only doing 5K oil change intervals.
Yeah since Wix got bought out Ive been checking my filters over, I don't think Ive yet had the misfortune of getting a defective Mann Hummel but I hope to not have to. For my 12 valve cummins and other parts of my fleet Ive been thinking about CAT filters, fleetguard (basically oem cummins filters), or maybe Baldwin which is said to be the same as some CAT filters.
I put one wix xp for my honda. It look like louvers where closed I still put it on car. Car felt like it was struggling. Motor felt sluggish swap out real. Quick with a cheap stp extended filter i had. Car felt like its pep came back
I use a lot of Wix filters. Noticed some of the red anti drain back material was protruding into the thread part of a filter I was getting ready to install on my side by side. Contacted Wix about it. There quality representative contacted me and wanted to know if he could come by and get the filter from me. He was in South Carolina I was in North Carolina. I asked him, " you are going to drive all the way here for 1 oil filter"? He said yes, that is my job! Told him sure, next day around lunch he was at my house! Hand delivered a brand new filter and thanked me for contacting them. Said he would have it looked into as to how this occurred. I was truly impressed!
@@remarkable224 100%. Have to inspect them all with 125+ to 200+ reading glasses & a flashlight before purchase if you can. Be certain to do so before installation no matter the brand.
Maybe if it's made in Germany but in the US I see them as part of the problem of declining quality in US made filters. Purolator & Wix have both suffered in quality control since being purchased by Mann & Hummel.
Bosch build quality has really dropped since moving production to Mexico. They didn't even have properly punched out louvres! Unfortunately I've started noticing more issues with Wix filters as well. A lot of aftermarket filters have gone to sh*t. You might have to stay with OEM and hope their quality control is better
@@LuckyVagabond I've heard that the Fram made Honda filter is built to different specs than the Fram aftermarket filter, but no source or proof unfortunately.
thanks for sharing. I had been using Bosch filters on my 2020 Honda Ridgeline until it got wrecked. I had the box top in the glove box on my "new to me" 2019 Honda Passport for reference, I usually run OEM Honda filters or WIX. 2 years ago, I had a NAPA Platinum filter that the media end cap was "bent" (the paper was slightly crushed from the leaf spring)!
Sorry to hear about your Ridgeline. I always wanted one of those. My wife calls them "city trucks", lol. I'll have to give the OEM Honda filter another try. Thanks!
I got a Bosch for my wife's CX-5, slightly different model, and it leaked out all over the place despite being tight as it should be. Had to crank it all the way down with a wrench to get it to stop leaking oil out all over the bottom of the engine under driving conditions. Sad it's a once good brand now garbage. I won't buy one again. Will buy a Purolator or Wix next time.
Interesting. I had the same experience with the first Wix filter I tried, but I couldn't get that one to stop leaking. Makes you wonder if maybe the bypass valve wasn't working and there was too much pressure for the gasket to hold. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Don't expect top of the line quality from those brands either. Mann & Hummel purchased both of them & the quality control has definitely slipped. No matter what brand or how high up the product chain it is INSPECT INSPECT INSPECT!
Good video. Did similar job. Wondered where water went after passing between hatch and roof at the top. You sealed those seams up pretty good :) Water goes down past your super sealed seams, between hatch rubber seal and frame, right on top of rear tail lights. Need to be sure tail lights are sealed and snug to frame. Water will flow past light and out bottom of harch onto bumper. SO, seal rear hatch/frame seams all the way to bumper, Seal tail lights and snug tight to frame.
