This one was from a F150 FX4... but the key is 04-08 models with the 'floor shifter' which basically means the shifter is in the center console, not the stalk on the steering column. That is what gives you the hold to reach through for the Element e-brake.
@@Papane1 Yup! They got mine in the same night as 2 other E's in my neighborhood (Italian Market in South Philly). I've since sold it before moving to the west coast.
I did this! It’s perfect! I also cut up a cheap grey tote from Goodwill and used the plastic to shape the inside a bit more. That way it doesn’t just look like it’s sticking out to nowhere
I got a black one from a Harley Davidson edition F150 at the junkyard. Looks good, works great. I haven't anchored it yet, it's wedged snugly in between the seats.
Who else thought the center console door would slam onto his fingers? 😂Awesome video though. I'm looking for a new Element and as soon as I get it, I am doing this!
Howdy, very cool. Did you remove all the inner parts that are hard plastic that route the air to the back? And did you remove the seat caps on the bottom insides of the front seats?
Yes, all the guts came out, only the underside of the arm rest storage remained. I used an oscillating tool to cut off all of the clips where it would attach to the ford.
I just did this! Took me less than an hour and that included putting my tools away. I used a Dremel Tool to trim off the tabs. Otherwise I followed the video which was reallt easy. Thank you Rich, you just made my (new to me) 2003 Element much more comfortable to drive. Edit: I got my console off e-bay for $200 plus $12 shipping.
I just watched this video...again. I've watched it a number of times over the last year. You really did a great job. One of the best "how to improve your car" videos on RU-vid!
Thx for sharing this video. My Q is, how hard is it to take out the console from an F150? Any special tools required? I'm assuming a long 1/4 or 3/8 extension. Thx
My neighbor just bought an element and said he will do this. I've been looking for an element for my wife and definitely will do this for her. This is awesome.
I was about to say.....what about the e-brake....it can't be covered.....then I continue seeing the video and can't believe that it fits the ebrake perfectly 🤩
