For myself, Michael Crawford will also be the "Alpha" of the role, and Ramin Karimloo the "Omega." Times changes, the interpretation of the role changes with it...but in the case of these two performers (and a few others) their Mastery of the role does not.
For some reason, every time sir Crawford does his famous hand-over-his wig/hair thing, the video will be either shaking , out of focus or suddenly zoom into Christine's royal behindeness, lol!! I want to see him doing his thing!!!
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH for uploading this!! I think this was around the time my mum watched it for the first time and I’ve always wanted to see what Les Mis was like back then, Literally my favourite musical ❤❤❤
I've seen the show with more than 35 performers, as I see it every single year (well, except the Covid era), from 1987 till 2024. He's my 7th favorite, right after: Michael Crawford, Dave Willetts, Peter Karrie, John Owen Jones, Ramin Karimloo and Colm Wilkinson. With that order. Hugh Panaro is my number 8. Peter quite resembles Michael Crawford and Dave Willetts, the two initial original Phantoms.
@@lesmiserablesfantome-ygood1922 Of course, back in November 1989 in London, he was the one after Dave Willetts. Not one of the best in my opinion to place in the top10, but that's just a personal opinion. Sadly, I think he has died.
There is a man who carries and displays enormous talent. Go from madly maniacal to heart-wrenchingly vulnerable, repeat multiple times throughout the show - for each performance. Anyone who dons the mask has my respect, and Michael is one of my favorites. 🌹
2:10:58 Wait a minute...you tellin' me that they could make the ghosts of Marius's friends reappear in ECAET using old school theater methods yet not with good ol' "movie magic" for the film?!? smh!
Watching this while being only familiar with the movie version, and hearing all these verses and entire songs I've never heard before, all I gotta say is, HOW MUCH DID TOM HOOPER CUT FROM THIS THING!?!?
I’ve watched this so many times now and I’m currently paying attention to how Enjolras is frequently in the spotlight, whereas Grantaire never is. Even with his back to the audience in Red & Black, Enjolras is right where one of the spotlights comes in… at around 1:10:40 Grantaire is RIGHT NEXT to him but he’s still never fully in the light. “No one loves the light like the blind man”
I mean even when he tell them to take the boat.. his child like actions really show how shelterd he was as a man.. then straigting up and becoming proper when christine comes back only for him to melt into her arm shows how much he truly loved her
Im sory but this mans acting really brought the phatom to life. His manrisoms, his skittish movements in the final lyar, realy made eric feel like hes been sheltered from the world. If you really think about it, hes been hiddin all this time soo these ticks and trama hes suffored really shows. Not many actors potry this so perfectly. We say ramin was best but only cuz he was in 25th had it been any other actor we would love them too. Wile ramin is good yes. Dont get me wrong i love him as the phantom.. but this man Anthony warrlow has always been amazing in any role hes in.. but phantom truly stands out for him
I was lucky to meet Earl back when he, JOJ and Matthew Camelle were performing The Three Phantoms Concert. I was one of about 3 people waiting at the stage door (the others left quite quickly) and Earl was so lovely, such a gentleman....all three of them were....in fact, I remember Earl kind of sensing that I was hoping to see JOJ (I love all three, of course but JOJ is my favourite Phantom) and he said, "don't worry he'll be here soon"....and then..."here he is". ....I can't remember what he said to John now...but I remember I made them all laugh 😂... because I just looked at JOJ and said....."I LOVE YOU" 😂...and OMG... I was so embarrassed because that's not something I tend to say even if I meet someone who I admire in case they feel uncomfortable....but we just all laughed 😂 and they chatted with me for a good 20 minutes. It's one of my favourite theatre experiences to this day. Earl is so charming, incredibly kind and quite handsome when you see him up close.... lovely, lovely man. 🌹
By the original do you mean Barbican? I don't believe any publicly available videos of that exist. There are a handful of early West End videos though, the earliest known one being from 1987 and uploaded on a different channel. However, that one (and of course all others) come after the Broadway production started, meaning a lot of differences exist between them and this much earlier stuff.
The role of the phantom was made for Freddie. Literally, the music for the part was written in mind for him and ALW had him come in and do testing for the role. He ultimately declined because he thought his voice wouldn’t survive doing the role 8 times a week. If only Freddie considered getting a vocal coach to teach him how to preserve his voice…. He once said not being on the Thriller album was one of his biggest regrets. If he knew this musical would have its 40th anniversary on the West End next year I bet Freddie would have regretted passing on being the original of this role of a lifetime.
Will you be able to share the whole highlights one day? How do we contact you? I don’t have anything to trade though😢….just can’t get enough of sir Crawford 😅. Thank you for considering….
Please react to Henk Poort with Floor Jansen performing phantom of the opera. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9uS65jiFGus.htmlfeature=shared Amazing and mind blowing.
I was fulltime caregiver to both my unwell parents and sister and was never able to go see this. Now through the magic of RU-vid I'm getting to see it and imagine what it would have been like to be there. Thank you. 🖤
