I just stumbled across an allegedly working camera of an almost identical design to this one but couldn't find any videos or tutorials on how to use it until I found this video! Massive thanks!
I'm having trouble with the advance level not moving or hearing the shutter, it worked in the store which is why I bought it but I got home and it's not working - any advice?
Hi Derek, it's really hard to find instructions on how to fix the AV1. Mine only shoots in B mode, the light meter works correctly, and everything else seems fine. Can you give me some advice? Thanks! And thanks for the video, very interesting.
I’m having the same issue with the shutter but that lever moves and isn’t fixing the issue. It has worked for me in the past, any idea how to unstick it other than that lever?
Don’t use a squeegee. Put a drop of washing up liquid in the final rinse and wipe the non-emulsion side of the film with a piece of kitchen towel. You’ll then have scratch free negatives.
Great video, I've just bought an Av-1 and noticed that the seal where the prism is looks a little worn so I'd like to replace it. Could you tell me what oil you are using and the tool you are using to apply, where you get the light seals from and also where do you get one of those mats from to hold the screws etc., please?
hi sorry about the delay in replying I got the mat from amazon its a soldering mat the light seal is from e-bay and the oil is just 3in1 applied with a oil pen which i got from e bay hope this helps
Thank you so much I’ve just got this camera as a gift sort of (the lady wanted to throw it away cause nobody was interested in it and I’ve taken it to save it from trash) but I’ve never shot on film only digital by now on a canon D1200 and a Fuji XS10. But I love to try „new“ things ! So thanks you very much from Germany !!
Hello, I enjoyed the video. I did have a T60, I also had a similar problem. You may need to clean the surface of the shutter magnet, via the bottom plate and a long swab and alcohol or you could just leave it on a shelf. The T60 was mostly sold in Asia and Africa I think. The camera just did not feel like a Canon. It does not feel quality.
Hello! Awesome video! I was wondering if you could tell me what's wrong with my AV-1? Basically, it won't fire from the shutter button. The batteries work, because the light meter works. However, I can manually fire the camera by pushing a screwdriver into a lever on the bottom in the inside of the camera. Any ideas on what's wrong with it?
one tip, always, if possible load this 120 film into the insert in subdued light, or with your back to direct sunlight, as any looseness of this paper can allow light inside. but good practice as well, as you showed here, Always prepare the insert, with film id, and blank spool FIRST, as this allows you to have TWO hands on the film, so have Maximum control of it during the loading process.
Thank You for this video! It helped me very much, I'm not going to get it because there is no way of knowing anything! 😂😂😂 I will buy another analog camera when I find one. Subscribing now. / Lisbeth from Sweden 🇸🇪
You know that you really need to lose some of that fat don't you? I'm faced with the same thing - getting out of breath etc. It's not easy but it really has to be done. Recommend: start with your sugar intake.
The stuck mirror could be fixable. Mine had the same and I could fix it with a heat gun. The problem seems to be the mirror has shifted down a little bit and gets stuck when it flips up. The heat gun makes the glue soft and you can reposition the mirror (don't use too much heat). Agree on the camera not being too exciting, but it is a light and practical one to use old FD lenses.
@@johnirby493 the 700 is a very basic camera with very little the user can control I've got a rt and love it it's one of the cameras I use on a regular basis
Hey, nice Video! I have a question. Can you only make black and white pictures with that camera, or can you also do colored pictures ? I want to buy one, bit i am not sure if i can do colored pictures with that. Thanks
yes, and the film may not be as flat, due to the 135N back having a 'frame' to guide the film across the gate, the 120 doesn't, also there is no capacity to rewind the cartridge, so unloading MUST be in a dark bag, tent, or dark box at a pro lab. this whole thing is like a Rolleikin kit for the Rollieflex tlr's.
The film advance button has no mark, how do you know when you have reached the next photo? I received this device but I don't understand how the film advance button works.
It is a waiting game and persistence does eventually pay off 😬 like yourself l work so can’t spend as much time on it as l would like but every time I get out l still enjoy it regardless of whether I get any pics 👍
Enjoyed the video l have a similar chair hide a stealth gear one which l have had for about 10 years excellent bits of kit too comfy lol as l have fell asleep inside only to wake up to find all the food l put out gone 😩
