The money that AHEPA provides was enough that the previous Archbishop shamelessly dedicated a Sunday to it. He announced the 4th Sunday after Pascha, AHEPA Sunday! What Samaritan woman? Right? Money talks!

​AHEPA members eat all this up, though. They also donated a whopping $95 million (both individual donations and through AHEPA) for the construction of an ugly bomb-proof American church in New York. Meanwhile historic 19th century churches in Greece have peeling frescoes, and neoclassical buildings in Athens need serious preservation. (And yes, people in Greece try as best as they can to save this cultural heritage with whatever money they can raise). And foreign investors are buying up Omonoia and putting AirBnBs in ugly 70s buildings; that $95 could fix the area, with the neoclassical architecture it had before 1960. But nah. "Greek heritage" to AHEPA members means cosplaying "ethnic" in America, and having stupid church festivals for WASPs, instead of actual cultural preservation in Greece.

@@joeb5080 The ultimate agenda of AHEPA has always been to attract investors, organize fund-raisers, collect money from the public and then use that money to buy influence and power in the Church. When they give an opinion, it is taken seriously. These organizations are not charities. They are influence peddling lobby groups within the Church.

@@mr.papagiorgioii7759 If you are looking for ecclesiastical purity and heresy-free Orthodoxy, you will have to jump into a travel machine and go back to the 14th C, when the "IX ECU" took place which dealt with the Palamite teachings on Divine Light and Participation in Prayer. Since then, the entire Orthodox Church has been embroiled in every uncanonical activity imaginable which continued relentlessly even after the Fall of Constantinople. They narrative that we chose the Turks over the Latins is a nice tale. Unfortunately this is not what happened at all. The Orthodox Churches (Greek, Slavic, Russian) were riddled by latinizing clergy, some even implanted by Rome to pretend they are Orthodox, some others openly Latin. Concelebrations and common prayer including the sharing of places of worship was as common as the weeds in your back yard in spring time. Oddly, however, even under these extreme circumstances of open betrayal of the faith, the Church continued to produce Saints and Martyrs. If you think that Saint Nicodemus' times were not full of these events, think again. This is why he wrote about them. But here's the million dollar question: Did he or any saint during those times break communion? The answer is obviously no. Don't tell me about Saint Mark of Ephesus because he did not create any parallel Church! The Saints throughout the ages had something we lack today. It is called discernment to know that it was equally important to preserve the doctrine of the unity of the Church as it was to formulate the correct dogma. Is this not the sickness of Orthodoxy today? So many sects and schisms and yet they all claim to adhere the very same Christoligical, Trinitarian, and other doctrinal formulations. What divides us is the arrogance to think that WE are the remnant, the leaven, that will save the Church! What a ridiculous claim! Those Saints also discerrned that breaking communion in a period of time of the Reformation, Modernity, the attitude of individualism, would cause so many schisms in the Church that it would never be able to find its way back. Finally, they also recognized the futility of the endeavour. The faith of the common people was at such a state that driving them to one sect or jurisdiction to another would do nothing for their salvation because behind all of that was not the Holy Spirit but Satanic pride accompanied by cynicism, pride, and bitterness. You assume you know Ecclesiastical History. Sadly you only know fantasy tales. Do not lie. You are not praying for anyone, much less for our Lord Jesus Christ to illumine the hearts of these Church leaders. You are just being a classical pharasee. I am not buying into it. If you believe that we are all heretics, stay at home. At least spare the One Holy Church from more schisms! The Church is not buffet and you can jump here and there or anywhere. Those who do make a mockery of the Church since in their one life time they would have leaped through 3 different jurisdictions before they finally decide that they can only stay at home!
