It was connected to monitor via a main i/o breakout in the pilot house. This allowed real time monitoring of everything displayed. If that’s what you mean…
What a fantastic video you have created of your impressive boat build. I've just received my plans for a Roberts 493. Do you still have your boat? Best regards from Jarle
After all of these years we have just sold her. We found an island between Vancouver island and the mainland and have lived here ever since! We did buy a little macgregor 26 to continue some local sailing but have new sports and hobbies as well. It has been 24 years since we decided to build so a worthwhile adventure for sure. Good luck on your build, you’re in for an adventure.! S&G
@@sandrainthesky1011 thanks so much for your reply. The one question I'd like to ask you is . In your experience how well did the boat sail in different conditions. Before I spend a fortune on building the thing it wold be nice to get some insight from someone with first hand knowledge. Thak you so much. Best regards from Jarle
No we sold her last year, kind of miss her but got a smaller boat to park in the drive way (yearly fees were bankrupting us) plus we're both into other things now and living on land ;) Good luck with your build (wow!) keep at it and it will happen S&G
Update: Going to copy these to my new youtube channel eventually. Hoping to fly it in late August or September after I get back from the mountain excursion I'm heading out on next week. Simply need to find a place to launch where I won't be flying over the ocean! Cheers all!
Fun to watch your maiden flight. I just did mine at my home, The Great Rift Valley, Kenya. Thanks for sharing. I watched yours just before I did mine and I didn't feel nervous thanks to your attitude!
Your joy makes me smile, feeling your excitement, what a wonderful sport well described with your emotions. Is something we all feel evertime we fly, no matter how much flying you've done. Now you're hooked, like all of us. Thank you so much!
It's definitely the way to go, get training. Sure it costs more but you learn safety and it soooo much fun, a life changing experience, might as well be done right!
Woo hoo! Thank you so much for helping. Hope you finished your 25! All I did was move the plastic gravel stuff around with a rake ha ha. Here's me launching off nice turf a week ago ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q_Gbl7xq9Jk.html
This really makes me happy and joyous. It's amazing and you have so much courage wow. Great first flight stay blessed from the uk.....remember to stay away from wind rotors or is that just the power para gliders need to watch out for that? Stay blessed
Thanks! Yes we must stay away from rotor big & small, it's amazing how powerful it is. I have been in pretty strong mountain rotor (half wing collapses etc) and that sneaks up on you if you don't know the trend in the valley. You too!
I am wondering if you went tandem flying as part of the training? I'm hoping to start training as a PG pilot this autumn and have to say that I'm looking forward to it, but am a little worried about the heights. I can only imagine the commitment required to make that first flight over the trees from that drop. What's your story?
(From new page SandraInTheSky) I went on a tandem a year earlier, then with Dave my instructor here, which was a longer flight. It's always part of the training. Don't worry about height, it's not like standing on a ladder at all, it more like VR really! You have to trust that the wing will hold you up and it's quite rigid once in flight. You don't jump off but simply run down the hill and you will be lifted. You will take mini-flights on a bunny hill first, perhaps only a few feet off the ground. This appears that you are moving very fast because you are so close to the ground, but once way up in the sky it feels motionless, like sitting on a deck chair (a comfortable one!) Go on a tandem first if you have any doubts, it's amazing, safe, and fun!
Ground handling is key, we all need to do it, especially after a long period of down time. I'm excited for you! It's an amazing thing to be flying, all the best!
Cautiously optimistic about the upcoming flying season! Want to do an SIV, love wingovers. Everything I am getting for christmas is flying related, that tells the story ;)
This is Sandy (new YT account) and I had a mis-hap with the paramotor today after not flying. Ran it full out for a couple of minutes at least at it stopped dead. Found a resistive trace in the filter capacitor block (my bad!) had burned completely off. That was folded 1/2" wide brass shim plate! Anyway, replaced with thick copper bar. I think there is more power now too, I'll know once I re-attach the harness.
I eventually flew this in the mountains ( and big red) it's a bit big but I could sure feel the thermals tipping. I would gladly trade it for a "small" all the same.
Thanks! I just finished my 45th flight (from Vernon mountain) and loving it all! I'll be posting more flying videos soon. This year has been bizarre for winds, made for some challenging conditions, good experiences
Wo Hooo Way to go girl , an amazing feeling when you nail that 1st solo , and it gets better :-) fo me the feeling of how small we are and the amazing privilege that we have to be able to do this sport . Big up congratulations .. and nice text book landing at the end Tippy toes landing say ya dun good girl :-)
Hi Calvin! I guess I get no notifications wtf? This year I landed in someone's driveway haha. An XC to be sure! Hope you are getting air time Calvin, best S
@@bigsailboatproject Hiya ..Grounded and not a happy chappy , medical rubbish has knocked me for six . Really wanted to keep up with this sport as i love that feeling once airbourne ( it special you are now experiancing it so great stuff girl ) but other than this crazy time were all going through now , its a major setback , still got all the gear , still ground handling and keeping sklills alive ,and electric beast is waiting for trike to be built LOL but dodgy lungs sap all my eanergy :-( Flying is easy ,, its the walk back if i land out thats the Killer ,, not giving up easy though. Greta to hear from you , truly hope all is well with you over that side of the pond :-)
HIya yep the old boy is still a dreamer , EPPG built but health issue slowed down the dream , still tinkering and remembered your throttle design and a question i wanted to ask ... did you use some sort of quick spiral to change vertical movement to Rotary Movement for your potentiometer in the 2nd or the 2 versions in this video :-) are you still developing this project ?
Hey soaringman, I passed Elphinstone on the way home the other day. We'll have to hook up sometime. I'm looking into Saltery Bay, Kent's Beach LZ from new site (???) which is close to me (Texada). Hope it's not too sketch cheers!
Saw your SIV! Nice! I did one involuntarily about 10 days ago in the lee side of a mountain ridge with 40 kph coming over and was super fun with collapses (1/2) and wing 90 deg or in front suddenly. Rocket thermals too! Was just shaking off rust so was a bit much but laughed all through it any way haha. This is a sport for me for sure, nice to know ya!
Well here it is a bit over a year later and today I actually flew this site! 17-18 knots (30-33 KPH) is the magic number. 10 to 15 feet at least. I kept getting pushed back as had no speed bar (who takes a speed bar kiting right??) so it was a bit scarey trying to stay off of the trees. Was totally stationary at trim speed so any little gust would put me back. Wind was more north than this video so had some wonkiness from coming over the hills behind Gillies Bay. Ended up getting dragged and scraped my arm all up, but was an amazing afternoon, so glad I decided to go!!
