1985 Lynn Stanford played for David Howard morning class. I was a scholarship student. He'd often give me five bucks to purchase a couple packs of cigarettes. Every time I would ask him "what brands?" his reply "just pick any keep the change!" In 1985 the changes I believe was enough to get a soda or a bag of chips.

Finalmente il primo video in cui viene mostrato un grandissimo artista del pianoforte ovvero Lynn Stanford...magico Lynn. Peccato che non sia stato mai fatto un vero e proprio documentario su questo artista americano (Texas) che viene ricordato solo come accompagnatore di lezioni di danza (anche se per le stelle dell'American Ballet). Lynn era molto di più...ma lo sanno in pochi.
@@kino2229 Lynn era un angelo della musica e i suoi pezzi non erano solo banali basi per esercizi di danza. Ha sviluppato un pianismo che avrebbe meritato una diffusione editoriale che non c'è mai stata. La sua produzione discografica è di un pregio elevatissimo e non si può mettere a confronto con altri "accompagnatori" per lezioni di danza. Le sue musiche raggiungono spesso un lirismo genuino e nello stesso tempo originale che risultano sprecate per soli esercizi ginnici. Come artista non ha avuto quell'attenzione che avrebbe di certo meritato rimanendo purtroppo solo un pianista accompagnatore. Ha dato il meglio di sé fino all'ultimo e se non fosse morto avrebbe sfornato sicuramente altra musica divina. Resta un astro luminoso per quei pochi che si sono accorti del suo passaggio sulla Terra.
Dancing to John Childs' beautiful improvisations was one of the greatest joys of training at Harkness. Sad, though, when he'd play an inspired, gorgeous, long piece, & we'd find out it was totally of the moment, even more ephemeral than any dance, never to be heard again, as even he did not know exactly what he'd played.

hi i was wondering if you could put up a sample of the first track "Let me call you sweetheart"? i heard a version in my ballet class & am not sure if it's the one in this CD... it's so beautiful but i've been searching for it for so long but there seem to not be a sample online...
My Ukrainian ballet teacher would stick his finger in his ear and wiggle it around when girls went off tempo as to say "Is there something stuck in your ear not letting you hear the music?"
