The ultimate vision of DrumAngle.com is to be a first choice among drummers and musicians seeking detailed drum set instruction and performance examples using acoustic-electronic drumming technology.
I know you probably get a million questions. But here goes. I have a TD-17 module which I'm using to send midi into Superior Drummer. But the hi-hat sucks. Bad triggering and unresponsive. It's a Roland hi-hat. Is there as setup template that I can use? Everything else seems ok. But the hi-hat is awful. Help me Obi-Drum-Kenobi! You're my only hope!
OMG this is sp helpful. Just started using SD3 with my kit and constantly had to adjust levels in SD3 to make everything sound even, but now it's all done in my kit. This is invaluable.
Great drum playing and sound ! Do you prefer EZdrummer 3 to 2 ? What I dont like about EZdrummer 3 is that it lacks the natural reverb that EZdrummer 3 has.
As a new drummer/e-drummer, this has been the most helpful video I’ve seen on this topic. I’ve watched literally 100+ here on RU-vid. Thank you so much!
This was great! Thank you for doing this. Got my TD-25 hooked up and it is running a lot more smoothly since watching this while working through the setup. Goodbye pesky ghost notes!
6:50 Naturally, the second note of the double will be a little bit louder. That's so interesting: When I try to imitate this technique while watching the video for the first time, by first stroke is always louder. I guess that probably means I'm doing something fundamentally different from you, but who knows. In any case, if you can make the sound more even, and we seem to be using a mixture of muscles (full leg, ankle, toes) then you can probably make either stroke louder, just like with hand double strokes, where, even though the first note is naturally louder, you can actually make the second note very slightly louder by messing with the time displacement of your arm, wrist, and finger motions (specifically, I think I wait until after the first hit to grip with my fingers), and of course the standard goal is to be just shy of this so that the strokes sound even.
May I ask which year of Mac your computer is? How much Ram? Since my computer is very difficult to run, is there any recommended minimum configuration?
Sounds much better than in Ez drummer 3 alone. A pity that the Main Room cannot sound as good in Ez drummer 3 alone. Or can you make it sound as good ?
Wow, excellent video! I never really knew what the drummer was even doing in this song. I guess Edge and Bono steal the stage. But then, now, not necessarily. 🙂 Thanks! Very interesting.
On these videos I'm using a Roland TD-30 and USB out of the module into my iMac which is then picked up by Superior Drummer 3. For my live rig I use a Roland TD-12, which uses a MIDI out cable into an audio interface (MOTU Ultralite mk3), and then Firewire into a MacBook Pro. I've been using both this studio and live setup for well over 10 years and it's worked great for me.
Hey Luke, I mentioned it in my first post, perhaps you missed it? But I would like to contact you via email, I'm interested in Zoom lessons, if you still do that? There is no contact information or form on your website, so how does one reach out to you?
I apologize for the delay, catching up on some comments here. I still do live lessons, please contact me directly via my Instagram channel and we can discuss further.
I've been struggling to play doubles with my foot for a while and this was very helpful. I noticed with the technique you're using that you are continually burying the beater into the head. I have recently been trying not to do that and was wondering your thoughts on this?
Burying the beater is a subjective choice in my opinion. Many will say not to, either because it's not the best technique or because it muffles the resonance of the drum. However, for me burying the beater while playing heel up was just more comfortable and natural. There's also plenty of top level drummers who bury the beater, one of my favorites is Jost Nickel. Lastly, when using Superior Drummer 3, you have the option to use kick samples where the drummer buries the beater, but also samples where they don't. So you can leverage the more "open" resonance kick drum tone in Superior Drummer 3 even though you're still burying the beater on the e-kit.
Hey man! I really appreciate all your videos and have learned so much about e-drums from you. I'm wondering if you still offer private sessions? I would love to pay you to pick your brain for a possible set up. I'm familiar with superior drummer 3 now from watching your videos. Is it possible to still do private sessions with you? I don't have facebook or Instagram due to it being hacked. Is there any other way I can get ahold of you? Thank you in advance, -Cameron
Hello, thank you for the compliments! I'm catching up on some comments here...I do offer live zoom lessons. Please DM me in my Instagram channel and we can discuss further.
That would be wonderful. I unfortunately can't get a Facebook or insta back due to being hacked. Is there any other way I can contact you to set up an appointment with you?
