Nice one Dave , i must have missed this one but like the new shelter , like the colour . I was just thinking ive not been down on the border hills for a couple of years , i'll need to get a trip down ..i keep going north lol...But good video mate again ..cheers Stevie
Good to see you back in the hills again Dave. Those deer nearly sounded like roaring lions...Ive got out..(at long last!!!) but up on the Scottish Border forest roads...a beginning😉. ATB. llama_ladee_anny😀
Hey Dave 👋 The views on the way up matey were perfect, I'd love to camp in the lakes, but it's so far from me, sadly, the furthest I've camped solo is the peak district. I loved it though. Cool viddy. Enjoyed it.
Long drive, long climb and dam that clag, as on a clear day it is such am amazing part of the lakes. Looked a canny mat but surprised you get any sleep with those randy stags about - deer not you! I am like you with a regular car service, do not want a break down in the middle of nowhere without a phone signal, cheers Alan
Nice camp Dave, I've had enough of inflatable pads and thermorest in particular as the bloody uberlite let me down again! I'm going heavy duty with a self inflating pad as a blown air bed is not too much of a problem on just an overnight camp on a thru-walk it's a disaster! I had to sleep on the cold hard ground for 3 nights before I found a village with a hardware store that had a cheapo festival pad to buy!👍🍺😎
A nice, relaxing video. That’s a good looking inner. Solid walls and sets as nicely as any I’ve seen. The inner which came with my second hand Duomid is so saggy, baggy and heavy that I rarely use it. The tent also looks great. I might have to splurge.
Hi Dave, must have missed this one, Great couple of days, love your canal trips and camps, I must give it a go, could probably reach the forests and back if I borrowed the wife’s step through e bike !!! I have the coast as well within 12 miles I am going to really think about this, your videos have inspired me. Cheers Adrian
Ooohh a nice looking mat!! 😊 What a wonderful place for a hike and camp…looked great Dave! Sounds like the deer are getting to work early this season! Some lovely spots for camping up there - hope the car got sorted without any issues 🤞
It’s very comfortable as mats go, was great to hear the Deer off in the distance. Haweswster is a great area for camping ⛺️👍 Car had no issues thank god atb Dave
Great to to see you back out bud. Seen a few folk try that out including Andrew park, I’ve had loads of issues with the kilos gear version so might give that a crack. Lovely looking camp spot that too. ATVB Robert
Thanks Robert , yeah it gives a decent nights kip does the the light tour mat, lovely area if you ever head that way , about 8-9 miles from junction 39 of M6 atb Dave ⛺️👍
Great video Dave, I loved the light and was going to ask if you'd changed your camera as it looked good. Sorely tempted to get an MLD I have to say and I echo your thoughts on the mat. I've now got two for me and Jan and sold both Thermarest. Happy camping A
Thanks Andrew , hope your are well. That was the first run out for the GoPro hero 13 paired with the DJI mic 2 via Bluetooth and no cables or adapters 👍 It’s a very comfortable mat , hoping it performs well in cold weather too. I do like he MLD shelters ⛺️👍 atb Dave
I'm with you Dave, I reckon the Haweswater area is my favourite part of the Lakes (Northern Fells run it pretty close also for me). Just seems that little bit less busy. Nice spot too on that ridge. One to bear in mind for the future. Great stuff. ATB, Chris
Thanks Chris , I agree Northern Fells is also very lovely too. Haweswater never fails to disappoint although it was a tad claggy on this one TFW atb Dave ⛺️👍
What a great wee spot for an over nighter and so quiet, which I don't associate with the Lakes, I was down there last week around Thirlmere and the place was busy, but then the weather was glourious, what a difference a week makes. I like the look of the new mat, I will recommend it to a mate who gets onto the tops a lot. The usual top quality video Dave, I look forward to the next. ATB Big Dave Scotland
Thanks big Dave, yeah it’s a quiet area of the lakes as the car park is the end of the road !! No sunshine for me 😂 but still nice to enjoy the peace of the hills atb Dave ⛺️👍
Nice one Dave. I have the thermerest same as you and always suffer with my back in the morning. I have been looking at the mat so you recommend it ? Cheers Graham
Very nice set up especially that reflecting mat is that from ebay?! Kinda envy having MLD but I already have X-Mids and one Big Agnes, I also fancy Six Moons Cape and LiteWay Pyroomm poncho, the are kinda like MLD but 2 in 1 and maybe more fun to use and have so maybe in the future when I have some savings ;p
I have just gone straight to it on there website - www.camperlists.com/collections/lighttour/products/r7-5-20d-sleeping-pad?variant=45179762442394#zoom hope this works atb Dave
@@gregoryoutdoors ahh that one is from here but currently out of stock - www.treadlitegear.co.uk/Ripstop-Aluminium-Camping-Groundsheet-Footprint-for-Exped--Neoair
Another wonderful video, Dave! I really enjoyed watching your scenic video in 1440p60 resolution on our 55" 4K TV. Thank you for taking me along. Cheers!
They're really interesting these trips. I love seeing the changes of landscape, style of houses, pubs, churches, water-towers, etc. If you ever do get on the Rochdale Canal, that's my local 'cut' and where I fished with my pals as a lad. BTW, what you filming on these days Dave? The footage is excellent.
Thanks Chris , so close to doing the Rochdale canal but weather diverted us lol , GoPro hero 10 mounted on the bike with hero 11 handheld , much easier to operate whilst cycling. atb Dave
Good stuff Dave, (and Ian) really good to see you both out stomping on my local canal paths and roads on day-2.. I’m a Derby lad! 👍🏻 Can’t believe you wild camped right opposite EMA runway! ✈️ ⛺️ 🙉 😂
Was just looking at the Solomid and wondering whether the lanshan inner would fit , well now i know 👍👍 Also as yourself , had the lunar solo in the garish green 😂 Enjoyed it but now sold . And the Duomid too , but with everything guyed found the footprint to be HUGE . So eventually sold that too . On the prowl for a new shelter , this ones fave at present . Enjoy your vids 👍
Oh u got another channel happy days definitely can’t get enough of these videos well informative and well put together the guitar and violin instrumental the second tune I think in the video any chance of the name I jig away every time I hear it 😆😆,keep up the good work stay safe and happy u both are great together on these rides cheers
This was my main channel before I set up the cycling channel during the pandemic ! “Leaning on everlasting arms” is the tune i add to most of my videos . Tfw atb Dave
Great video. I’m from Leeds and cycle a lot on the canal. The bit from Skipton to Silsden is an absolute disgrace. You’ll have experienced a much improved ride for the last 30 odd miles though with newly laid surfaces. If they could sort out the whole route it would be fantastic. Well done though, great achievement doing the full stretch 😃👍🏼
Hi there, nice review. I got this last year and tried it in Autumn @2000m and 6 deg C. It is NOT a MOUNTAIN bivvy. The top is very breathable & does not keep the cold out. Basically I froze and had to borrow an army surplus bivvy from a friend which proved excellent for the occasion. It is also NOT WATERPROOF, not even water resistant although this can improve if you spray the top with Nikewax waterproof spray. It's great for summer but should definitively not be called an 'Mountain Bivvy'
Yes I agree , having used it a few times since that first impression video it is more suited to summer camps only. A bit ambitious for them to call it a mountain bivi, I have a British army gortex bivi I use for rougher weather which is miles better .
Aye hard now with a small family and I know I have struggled with looking after out 4 year old grandson 2 days a week in the holidays. I was tipping 17 stone at Christmas, far to heavy for my height and age and pleased to be down to 16.2 now but it is slow and hard work, especially after pneumonia last April and a close call again at the beginning of the month. Good luck on the 14.5 stone target weigh, which funny enough is my target as well but at 33 you ate not old lol, I will be 70 in a few months and still feel 33! That was a stunning view at Paddy's Pole and I loved the colours in the skies and keep up those evening walks, cheers Alan
Good stuff Dave , nice spot but i'm sure i've seen you there before . The weather is pants this year , hoopefully a settled spell soon ...cheers Stevie
