With siblings 6-8 years older, I grew up in Australia hearing him at parties etc in the 70s when I was very young. Something very fishy about how he didn't take off as one might have expected, but great to see him get a new lease of life at being an artist.

The film 'Searching for Sugarman' is such a wonderful story and I'm so glad Rodriguez eventually got the recognition he deserved and that countries like South Africa and Australia were already familiar with. For me Gavin Clark is another lost soul that never really got the credit he deserved, sadly he passed away in 2015 without being discovered by many.
The man that could have challenged Dylan, pushed aside by the ‘suits’, and later brought back to life by bootleggers and a Swedish documentarian. Thank you for your songs Sixto, rest in peace.
After watching Searching For Sugarman, which absolutely amazed as a story. It was so awesome that it gave him the recognition he deserved and he had another shot at the career of following his music all the way to doing festivals such as Glastonbury. But was saddened to hear recent he'd passed away. Bless you Sixto and your lovely daughters who had a big part of your come back story. There was something said in the documentary that I'll always remember what one of them said of him about if he was rich, and I'll paraphrase. "Not in money, he was rich in other things!" I loved that, and they definitely loved their dad. Rest in peace sir xxx
Great, great artist, but what in heavens name was going on with that band and sound? Did they pick random people to those positions? The groove goes backwards, and the mix is the worst in history. How disrespectful!
Rodriguez in Glastonbury? Yeah. Sugar Man. We all heard His Voice. But it wasn't in Glastonbury. It was in Australia. Stuff Glastonbury. The Old Woman festival. Preaching BS
Thanks for your music Rodriguez, you've got to the best Singer songwriter the world has , well Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand has ever witnessed rip Sixto.
I’m just finding out about him today and the song I first heard of him is looking for sugar man I instantly became a fan……… but then I was told that he recently passed away not to long ago………😢
RIP Sixto Rodriguez. Sorry that I bootlegged your songs back in the 70’s, but we couldn’t buy your record in SA. Know your every lyric. Shocked when arriving in the US to discover knew who you were. Everyone knows you now. Your life and music changed our worldview, lives and values. That lasts forever
