Were you held as a suspect for a crime you did not commit? Please describe your Police Encounter in a video-selfie then e-mail it along with your name, age and city to: mvv0ck98vr32@m.youtube.com
This project collects John Doe stories and outlines connections among people who have been misidentified or presumed guilty. Real people- American citizens - tell how their lives and their sense of self in the American setting were altered as a result of being considered a suspect through racial profiling or misidentification. Police encounters that criminalize have a significantly different impact on an individual than those that promote cooperation between Peace Officers and Peaceful Law-abiding Citizens of any color, creed, national origin, physical or mental ability or sexual orientation.
Max file size is 20 MB so please record at mp4 or convert your video to a lo-res video format before e-mailing.Submitting your v-selfie gives us permission to use it online and in a book/documentary
Hi Anthony, Thank you. Good to hear from you. Missed you at the most recent DeVos session. I don't have any footage from 1995. I guess you could check with CLAGS or Chas Brack to see about footage. Let's have coffee. Robert
Hello Robert. My name is Anthony. I met you again this year during my org's participation in the DeVos Institute/Bloomberg Initiative. As I watched this video, I realized that you and I have definitely met before. I was an organizer of the Black Nations/Queer Nations? conference in 1995 and would love to see footage or any archives. Would you have any suggestions on where I may look? Would love to connect with you in general. I felt enriched seeing this video. Thank you. Anthony
Lots of stories and history here. I was quite touched by the testimonials of people living through the struggle juxtaposed against the birth and life of Other Countries, a response to the struggle. Very nice job.
