Followed along this as my first experience with protoflux, and it worked nicely. I changed the animation though, I made it scale down to 0, then I set the parent, location and rotation, and then I made it scale back to 1. I noticed that if I parent first then move the parent while it animates, the object also moves which doesn't look intended. Easy to fix if you hide the object while changing its parent like I did, but if with a "recall" animation I'm not sure how you could fix it.. you'd have to get the object to chase its snaptarget without reparenting it first?
Essentially. If you're going for the effect you're describing with a changing target position like that you would need to control the object directly using While loop which is a bit more advanced than a Tween. Love to hear about the modification too! I made a similar effect for someone a while back. Glad you got creative with it.
So far in this series I've just been using the default tools. My built in multitool is activated via my quick menu and then uses button combinations to swap modes.
@@KaiSato256 Ha! I mean I basically do. My quick menu is controlled with both touchpads and the button combos are contextual based on what's currently active.
Awesome! You've made this really easy to understand. Got one question. How wouldyou make your character weightless? I'd love to setup this with a zero gravity toggle and then sort of "pulse" the thruster to drift in a direction.
Sometimes I have legs now, what's the big deal HUH? In this case though it's because hand thrusters look kinda silly on someone who already has a thruster in place of a lower body lol
Mmm, spaghetti. :) Hopefully one day you'll do a tutorial on how to proxy limbs, I've seen people control extra limbs with their hands and I haven't figured it out yet.
I haven't played resonite yet, waiting for a new hmd so I don't have to mess with my index I am SO HYPED TO PLAY ALL OF THIS LOOKS SO COOL AND STRAIGHTFORWARD AND I AM SO EXCITED seriously though this was a lot of helpful information and I'm really glad I found you thank you!
Plenty! A dozen or so of us migrated together to Neos a little over three years ago. Since then the group has grown and shifted into a pretty tight-knit team. We call ourselves The Neolanders now. www.youtube.com/@TheNeolanders
first! Seriously though, awesome tutorial showing a lot of great features of flux as well as explaining very clearly how to use them. Thanks so much for your work!
This is a really useful video! One little criticism. I wish you would explain what you're about to do before you do it. Sometimes, I have no idea what the purpose of some actions are and have to wait until you explain. Ex: cloning the box to make a button.
Noted! Generally speaking I do my best for just that reason but there's always something that slips through. That should be pretty easy to be more careful about.
@@Ami_aoi Not natively. There is a player-made tool that lets you approximate that effect but generally speaking unless you're doing it for the novelty of it it's just less effective than other options.
What would be impressive, is if you could somehow make this tutorial in the game itself, in the 3d space. Why watch a tutorial on a flat screen, when you can be in the tutorial itself.
Wow, ever seen something and been sure you're looking at the future? This is absolutely mind blowing. Ever since I read ready player one Ive dreamed of the moment I could point at a real, tangible thing and say: "that, THATS what the book was about". This video alone is a fulfillment of what I thought were impossible wishes for VR as a platform. Resonite is a precursor to a genuine, honest to god Oasis. I cant even begin to describe how hyped I am for the future of this platform. This must have been how people felt seeing bitcoin for the first time, or how the audience felt at the first iphone unveiling. Just knowing with absolute certainty you're looking at the next game changer. Im glad I get to be one of the first people to see this. Ive been a huge VR enthusiast since the rift launched, been playing vrchat since 2018 and this just blows my mind. THIS is what Ive been waiting for. 20 years from now when ready player one looks like childs play compared to the current VR tech, I'll be honored to say I experienced the start of all this. Seriously, this video made me jump out of my chair and dance around the room like an idiot. I cant wait to see whats next for resonite
Hey what actually is protoflux under the hood? is it like udon a weird sandboxxed version of another language, is it more like blender shader notes or is it its actual own turing complete programming language?
I hear you, but for in-VR coding I think visual languages hold a lot of merit! Typing in VR is very very slow, and the game is about being able to collaborate on the fly. I think it makes sense here!
@@Joziah3 I hear u bro. VR is a whole diff animal. Havent tried it but prob wont ever. At least not soon. Poor mf like me never get ahead. We just work to support the entire country in the shadows. Eventually life wont be nothing but VR. Closer and closer to Surrogates. Sigh. I do hope everyones' 'wishes come true.
Oh my god it is absolutely insane how all of this is possible to make in the game Now I'm really disappointed because I can't really add any of this really cool features to my avatar due to them not fitting with the character haha
i've been thinking of getting into resonite lately, but the large amount of learning to get properly started is tricky to wrap my head around. I can get over that issue on my own time, but my main question to ask right now is this: Does Resonite perform better with few objects, with more complicated meshes, or many objects that are just simple, like cubes? i have a good idea for how i want to make my avatar but i dont want to make something that'll grind the game to a halt
been playing for 3 months, never knew that 0 tween value is just where it is. Thats how Async sequences work And i've been making my snapper recall systems wrong, and thats why they tend to break and send my item to world root. Also, i want that keyboard.
I'm waithing for this tutorial for so long. As for an non-English speaker, it's more efficient to watch this video than come to you in person, as I'm having trouble ask you because there are many peoples beside on you.
Hey Rustybot -- Fantastic video/tutorial as always. So very informative and still makes my brain explode in the most positive ways! I'm very keen to get hold of the URL/link to the public folder that you mention at the end of your video, but I do not see it in the video description as you mention (could be just me missing it and/or looking in the wrong place tho). Keep up the great work!!
