I just soaked/washed a heavy sweatshirt with oxiclean for my daughter, my gosh, to heavy for me to lift, squeeze & rinse, but I did it, I have a Queen size comforter, but will have to take to laundromat, too much for me, but I appreciate the video!

Thank you for posting this. I have a little puppy that peed on mines. Too big for my machine so, this is a good option. I also went to a car wash and used the carpet hangers to hold it up as I sprayed it folded in half then flipped it to do the other side. Worked good.As far a wringing it out I hung it up to drip out most of the water in the sunlight it takes hours but, it works before putting it in the dryer.
You might just consider creating some sort of wooden stand. Kind of like one of those clothing racks you find at the store - just roughly made out of wood instead…. And without the wheels of course. It would be ideal if it could fit inside of your bathtub, yet it’s tall enough to suspend (half the height of) the down comforter by way of using a closet dowel across the top. This would that allow you to use the detachable showerhead sprayer and rinse out the soap on the front side/on the backside/and then on the two inside front and back sides. Then you just let it sit there for a couple hours while it drip dries most of the way before you throw it into your dryer. I think if your time is money and you look at what your hourly wage is… And you compare this job to it, you should try to find a simpler method - one that does most of the work by just waiting rather than having to exert physical labor. Otherwise it’s definitely worth it to just take it to a laundromat!
You should’ve mushed grapes like with your feet like Lucille Ball - on top of this down comforter. That would’ve saved your back a whole bunch of pain and wrists any difficulty in accomplishing this task. In the event you didn’t want to get dishwashing detergent on your feet, just simply put a plastic garbage can liner around each one of your legs… You could even reuse the garbage can liner later on - and your garbage will smell like lovely laundry detergent!
I've done this before and it's very exhausting I put it in the dryer the dryer actually burned it and I ruined the comforter lol. So I bought a new one and then I took it to the dry cleaners and paid 50 bucks for them to clean it and that was basically a waste of my money so I'm back to the bathtub but this time I'm gonna have to let it air dry
This brings back memories! My sister and I used to wash all sorts of things this way. When the washing machine broke we even washed our jeans like this. These were lessons we learned from our grandma. I am blessed to have a washing machine at home now but because she taught me that I have always been able to manage without one. 😌
Awe I love this! What a beautiful outlook on life & beautiful memories to have! ♥️ & right?! Washing machines weren’t always a thing so there are definitely other ways to get clothes cleaned!
Had to laugh the tub reminding you of washing clothes in the bathtub. Your post reminded ME of the times we washed the dishes in the bathtub when our sink was in disrepair. It was an old house and, I can't remember exactly, but it must have been a drain issue. Happy memories to you!🤣
I am going to try the tub, got a couple of plugs as I normally just shower. I have washing wands so could use that to agitate the blanket. All other blankets and sheets do fit in my portable washer but two do not, I can then spin them and get them in my dryer one at a time.
On a windy, sunny day, you could also put it over or a fence, a picnic bench, or your car, or whatever. and then spray it with a hose, soap it up, scrub it, flip it over, repeat, and then just leave it there all day to dry.... A powerful hose and the sun would do most of the work for you.😁
I forgot to ask, how did you dry it? I’m a new subscriber and I don’t wanna run my favorite comforter. I wanna make sure that all the material in each diddle Square stays like it supposed to. So I don’t really know how to dry it but I’m gonna try what you did with the whole bathroom method. I am new to your channel and I am excited to see you more. Thank you for sharing and if you can please let me know how I would dry my bamboo comforter. PS I usually hang dry my comforters. But I was just curious how you did yours. Thank you, my hats off to you girl 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🤗💜🤗💜
She put it in her dryer. 7:50. BTW, one of the comments suggests putting it in the washing machine first just for spinning only to remove excess water. Then put it in the dryer.
WOW!!!! You are one heck of a mom and wife!!!! I sure wish that I was young enough to do that, but I’m hitting 60, and I could never be on my knees like that!! My hat is off to you young lady!!♥️♥️♥️♥️💜💜💜💜💜💜
I'm in my 30s and have osteoarthritis of my neck, spine and knees along with thinning discs etc. So what I plan to do is stand and swish the comforter around with my clean feet, like I am squishing grapes. Wish me luck.
@@ngoddess9684 Okay Lucy, let know how it goes! Best of luck. I did the best I could and then let it just drain on its own in the bathtub, and then I drag it outside real quick and the sun did the rest! So happy with the results! 🌸🌸🌸🌸💜💜👍🙏
Tip: don’t use warm water when trying to get the soap out. It doesn’t go to well. And letting it soak in cold water is best so use cold water to let it soak and to get the suds out.
That’s actually not correct. You should always go based off of your comforter tag. However, since most detergents are surfactant based, it washes out better in warm water.
@@arielllmarieee okay I get where you’re saying that. But color based items should always be rinsed or washed in cold water. And your comforter is grey. At least that’s what I was told. Let me know
In the past when I have used my tub to wash stuff I found it helped to keep a seperate toilet plunger just for laundry and instead of doing all that work by hand the plunger was much easier. 😊
Thank you 😊 this helped me out a lot!! The laundromat is closed at my place and its been 2 weeks still not fixed!!! Ugh.. so I'm in NEED of cleaning my blankets and comforters!! Especially since my 6 month daughter sometimes spits up and slobers all over our blankets 🙃 lol
After washing in the tub, I would put it in the big plastic container to keep it from dripping water on the floor and put it in the washing machine just for spinning only. Then put it in the dryer. 👍
