This Channel is all about my passions....which is mostly Flying and Flight Simulation. I love to mix the two as Flight Simulation helps to keep many of the skills proficient. When the weather is bad or reviewing the plan for the next flight -- Use the sim!!
Want to know what is in my Real Flight Bag -- well minus Cameras and mounts :) . Or What Sim Hardware I like to use! check out my Affiliate Link.. at some point I will try to figure out a way to link it all via other platforms since not everything is available on Amazon.. but they made it the easiest to find and click to add :)
Thank you. What am I doing wrong. over 90fps in NYC with 4090. massive fps drop when right alt + left click. No improve when dragging to screen connected to motherboard hdmi (high end PC) . So 97fps -> 60FPS when same GPU ---> a bit lower on second screen on motherboard hdmi.... just bought realsimgearstuff having seen your video without trying this thinking it would work...Darn me
With a 4090 you’re probably using Frame GEN and that probably won’t work with that any longer. I don’t have an onboard GPU with my 7800x3D and 4090 so can’t comment.
Very interesting instructions, would you mind in provide a video on how to add a display or a 7 digit display module MAX7219 like, to a arduino IDE, to show in SPAD Next?
See the examples that are in the PINED messages in the spad discord. Considering this exact conversation is going on there regarding that model of part I assume you’re one of those people.
A great set of tutorials. Just a quick one before I get Spad. Does using it fix the issues with the Bravo and the Fenix A320 Autopilot and the reversers? Currently for me the Bravo autopilot does nothing and the reversers won’t go into reverse idle. I can’t get on the discord as mentioned in another comment as I don’t have a serial number yet. I also have the Stream deck plus which you need the full version for and I’m reluctant to spend over $100 unless it works with everything. Thanks.
The link to the firmware updater is no longer valid. The only one I can find is Firmware Uploader 20220426. This version does not allow you to choose a hex file.
Look into finding XLoader then or reach out to MiniCockpit and ask them to make the file available since it is their site and their article that is still pointing to a file.
all of the buttons and reversers on the TCA Boeing will show up as events on the axis control - so click on the axis the button is attached to add event and you will find buttons.
Downloaded the Snippet. When I came to setting up the APU I can implement the condition LVAR but cannot find it to implement it as an Action. Has this changed?
Ok so if we have a button which rebounds in sim, and we want to press and hold, what's the process for that? Everything I've tried makes it press and hold but it flutters on the hold execution.
(MSFS) SPAD.neXt | Conditional Event and Acceleration ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7U9YPcLAg7Y.html That video shows how to make it work for events.
Thank you very much for the explanation, a few months ago I bought the TDS GTN Xi Pro, I fly frequently in South America and the Caribbean and I do not see details of the taxiways, not the terminals, it only works in the United States
I was trying to get the RADALT to detect my set DH in the Lear 35A and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. Then I realized that I needed to round the number to a whole number to match the DH (DH is in whole numbers, 200, 300, etc.). Had I not remembered seeing you *round* in this video, awhile ago, I would have never figured it out on my own. 😵💫 Les, you're a genius! 😅 Sooo incredible to have Boeing GPWS audio callouts in the Lear! "plus 100"/"approaching minimums", "decision height"/"minimums", etc. Once I actually start taking some real flights in this thing (instead of just test flights), I'll go ahead and setup a TOD pause, lol. Spad is one of the most useful programs I've ever used, in my flight simulator experience! (over four decades)
@@LesOReilly Quick question (not tech support). Do you know of a way to pause the audio playback in spad? I'm attempting to setup various checklist that I can pause and resume via a button. I have a few checklist audio files ready, just haven't figured out a good way to pause/resume. Thanks
@@LesOReilly I found a post by a guy who said he uses Winamp player (I haven't heard that name in years), which allows you to assign hotkeys for Play, Pause, Next/Prev track, etc. It runs in the background. I'll give that a try and have Spad trigger the hotkey combo. That should work for what I'm doing. Thanks!
For a Switch that has ON and OFF positions but we don't have an ability to Send an On or OFF Event we can use conditions to guard the toggle event. Basically the switch needs to be kept from getting out of sync. So you only let it send the toggle event if the Sim Variable allows it to do that.
@@LesOReilly ok, could it be programmed so that you can change values without virtual power. Also another question that came to my mind is are you able to change the brightness
I'm currently in Trial Mode and will, in the next couple of days, upgrade to a Full Licence. However, at the moment I'm wrestling with having the Yoke Throttle sliders converted to a switch in the 777 move the Start Switch on the OH, apply a pause of 1000ms and then move the Fuel Control lever to Run. I have added the event and applied the same range for ON but it doesn't work. Have you tried to do this in the 777? I should mention that I can make this work with a normal button using the Short and Long Press types to start and shutdown the engines.
@@LesOReilly I have the fact the levers didn't move sorted. The action that is not OK is making the slider execute the two functions - Move start switch followed by move the fuel lever after a delay pause.
@@andybrockbank3027 you are going to need to make a Local Variable that you set instead of the Fuel Lever... Set it to a 0 or a 1. Then you will attach two Scripts and inside the scripts you will build it like you did on the Button. The Scripts will run based on that Local Variable being a 0 or a 1. Just like a "switch" would operate.
if you made it work on a Button it is the same skill set... Script is just another item that runs on something "changing" as opposed to human pressing button.
Thanks for the video on this . Learning sopmething new each day. However, just tried to do it for the PMDG 777 and the fuel levers don't work. Is this a known problem or am I missing something?
Good afternoon sir. First I want to thank you for your videos. They are saving me huge amounts of time with Spad. I have a question for you if I may... I have purchased a Prodesksim fuel cut off switch for my PMDG 737. Is it possible to adopt your profile and still map out my cut off switch to buttons 9 and 12? The issue that I see is where you use the bottom detent of the P/L for fuel cut off how would I disable THAT feature. Dont want to drop into the detent on landing and shut off my engines. Thanking you in advance for any help you may offer.
@@LesOReilly Good morning sir, may I ask another? My version of Spad is the latest. I cant find your profile there. Is there any way to change my version to 9.12.37 as its the Bravo lights that I really want? I appreciate your time sir. Thank you.
@@tombrady5867 that is an old version from the video .. I am on a much newer version now. I don't make Profiles -- I make and publish Device Snippets for each device as my profile would contain other devices that you don't have. There is a chapter in the video on how to download my Snippet.
@@LesOReilly Oh ok. Really wanted to fix my lights. And my bad, I meant snippets. Not profiles. I followed your video and couldnt find your snippet so I thought that going back to a former version would help. Thank you again for your videos. Hope you have a great weekend.
Don’t look for profiles. Profiles are a collection of one users hardware - these age going away soon anyway. Make a profile for the plane. Then download device snippets for the devices you own into your profile. If you have similar planes you “make new profile from” the profile you want to base it on. In the future it will have inheritance where you can have a top level profile and then make child profiles for things that need to be different per plane.
Is there a way to control the tds via an ipad? Ive downloaded Spacedesk, per recommendation from somewhere else, and while it allows me to see the display, I cant control the sim.
You need to put TDS in standalone mode (no longer will see it in the sim) and then you can run it outside of the sim in its on app and put that on the spacedesk screen.
Man, it's great watching your tutorials and learning so much, even when you are working with completely different hardware, because you provide ideas that can be applied across multiple devices. I've learned so much and found different and better ways to achieve things than how I initially set them up. Things like the yaw damper tip, trim using Buttonmode: repeat (instead of button held), etc. I'm currently configuring the awesome FSW Lear 35A with all of my gear, which includes the TQ6+ throttle quadrant. Using your videos, I have the TRs working perfectly! Going from idle into reverse (REV) without using a separate button, is such a treat. Thank you so much! 😊
@@LesOReilly Absolutely! I haven't flown anything in a few years, but thank God we have the simulators and some incredible paywarre aircraft to fill the void 😀
Excellent video Les, Thank you! where would i be able to find your uploaded profiles. I'm having a nightmare trying to create a AP Panel for the CJ Simulations Typhoon?
I don't have that plane .. maybe search the online snippets for any device that has AP control for the Typhoon and then look at what is programmed for it
Hi, just wanted to say thanks a ton for the videos on SPAD, it works perfectly with my PMDG/Airbus TCA combo with the exception of the reverse thrust. I cannot get it to engage at all. I'm using your snippet and the numbers look identical to what you have here, but they just will not engage. Any suggestions?
@@LesOReilly Yes, I've tested it siting at a runway fully powered up. Everything looks correct in all the settings in Spad and I calibrated the throttles per the Thrustmaster instructions. EDIT: I figured it out, I needed to enable Virtual buttons within the Thrustmaster settings. It wasn't recognizing the Reverser detents as buttons. A little fine tuning on the calibration and it works great now!
Hi @LesOReilly - I just purchased SPAD and used your snippets, but one thing bothers me. I was provided the very latest v0.9.17 and this does not have this nice UI. Any ideas why this could be?
Make sure the switch is in PC mode not XBOX and check again. Seems like there was a new revision of hardware recently and the dev pushed new configuration data (not a new version of Spad just data that loads on startup.
@@LesOReilly reverse it in the spad.next app? Or msfs controls menu? & sorry I’m asking a lot of questions but if it’s through spad where can I find the option ?
its right there in the video -- section on the spoiler configuration at 19:30 you see the button for Invert Axis. I put in the effort to put chapter markers for every control into the videos. Just jump to the chapter for that item.
Do it work on win 11? and from Microsoft store bcs my shit isnt working and i spent $500 on it and i have an old joystik too and that isnt working too, its called Logitech Force 3D pro and i have drivers and these things but it isnt working! Help?
No idea what you’re asking. This video covers an old issue in SU6 and how to recover lost profiles. An old joystick that does not work with windows 11 is not something I have any idea about.
I already published snippets. Instead of waiting just search online snippets. Profiles require people to have identical hardware versus - you make your own profile for the plane and then pull in the individual devices via snippets.
So, do you have anything for black square king air? Everytime I try getting avionics master and start switches the switches in the sim stop working even after I remove my key assignments
Those are heavily tied to LVARs for animation and then some other k event for triggering systems. Use dev mode to see what each switch does for a click.
Great video, Les! I had been hoping to dive into plane configs for a while but didn't know where to start. This step-by-step tutorial was a fun and instructive introduction to modding config files. I can't thank you enough for putting this together for us. It only took me about a half an hour of debugging to get it working, I left out a closing /> in the XML file. Flying with it now.
Glad to hear it gave you the basics needed to get started. Ah yes loading the panel xml can be a pain in the but once you figure it out feels so good to complete the solution !
Thanks for putting together this step-by-step guide. It was very well organized and thorough. I watched parts of it several times as I attempted to create and modify the necessary folders and files. I may have come close, but in the end I abandoned the project. I have very much liked flying the Vertigo with PMS50 during my world VFR tour. Vertigo is fast, with great visibility. The PMS50 is feature rich.
Success! I was determined to troubleshoot the modifications I had made to the Vertigo and get the PMS50 more fully integrated. It works well now. Thanks Les for the instructional video, showing us the possibilities. This was my most involved aircraft modification. From the experience I learned much about MSFS aircraft file formats and contents. Going forward I will regularly use the Vertigo as I complete my global VFR flight campaign.
Hello ! thanks for this video. I can't understand something : in the Spad.next soft I can't see LVAR on the left. Is it because I used the Spad.next. trial version ? In the cessna 172 when i set the Alpha button MASTER BATT (switch, add event, switch on, add action, send simulation event) i choose C172_BATTERY ON it's ok. But it's different with the OFF : the little switch abve (stby batt) is moving too... Could you help me ? Thank you
Too much trouble to get that going but informative video to watch. Nice going, Les. I hoping add-on planes will do this for us. I understand that Got Gravel will not.
I am pretty sure Got Gravel will do it. They just have other priorities at this time. If they change the stance on mods then also possibly to post them again.
