I am sure that this is already a lot of fun to play like you have it now. But it is not perfect. The combination of the Harp with the breathy patch is not "breathy" enough to my ears and the distorted guitar sounds rather poor. Apart from that well done.
expert job andy. you never fail to exceed expectation - well done 👏🏻 hey, are you using a montage now? if you are, could you do a little comparison between it and the kronos? i would love to hear your opinion! cheers mate.
Hey! Thank you so much! Yes, I have replaced my Kronos LS with a Montage M6 few months ago... I have been KORG user for many, many years. I owned a Triton and then the KRONOS. Of course, the workflow is very different. I am still learning the Yamaha structure and logic behind the board, but so far, I prefer the KORG's (it is more intuitive. This may be due to the fact that I am confident with KORG workflow) Said this, I have to admit, the M6 sounds fresher. The AN-X engine is impressive, it really sounds analog (crazy where the digital world is getting to)... Acoustic pianos cut mix better, El. Pianos are very good, Organs great (KORG CX-3 engine is out dated)... KORG has discontinued the Kronos, leaving a big gap on high end music workstations (I really don't see Nautilus as Kronos successor... Big NO, for obvious reasons). On my view, this is disappointing. If a "Kronos 3" was launched at the same time of Montage M, I'd have considered to upgrade and stay with KORG (and I believe many other keyboardists). Overall, I am happy with the swap, so far... And I will be more happy once I will understand better the Yamaha instrument structure. BTW, soon I will upload a video of another 80's song synth recreation, and I have used only the Montage expanded softsynth plugin (ESP) - (as I am on holidays and I couldn't take the M6 with me, but only the laptop + mini keyboard controller). The ESP is also a fantastic tool. You have all the Montage sounds as plugin to be used in your DAW (no keyboard needed!). Stay tuned, and let me know what you think about the sounds after watching the new video... :D Thank you AndyWL
@@AndyWLMusic thanks for the reply andy. i went from triton to extreme to m3 to kronos and it was a very intuitive progression. but a bit like you the nautilus to me is not an upgrade, hence i've thought about the montage, or even having one as two masters along with my kronos. although, given the choice i would never have deserted that LS, thats what im looking to upgrade to. just for the keybed alone. the rh3 keybed has wrecked the backs of my fingers above the fingernail. so i only have organs and synths on my slave keyboard which has the synth keys keybed. even with that one my fingers are still a bit of mess. talking of organs though, i still think the cx3 board is brilliant. although i share your opinion of the pianos. they don't cut the mustard at all. they dont cut through complicated mixes well. anyway, i will keep your thoughts on the montage in mind. but i will definitely want that LS if i come across one. nice one mate, keep up the good work! 😊
This is phenomenal. I have played around with keyboards for about 20 years or so but never really being a real keyboard player, but I recently got back involved with a band as a singer and harmonica player and I am starting to add some keys to some songs. Recently started taking lessons from my cousin but she is teaching me the right way to play so when I play what little bit I can in my band, I have to practice differently and continue to play the wrong way. Instruction like this will really help. Grateful you’re taking the time to do this. This is one song we are doing. Going to add what little bit I can but I have to be careful not to try and do too much and Jack things up. Add some Phil and some depth and keep it simple until I become better at what I’m doing.
Thank you. I was able to reconstruct most of these reasonably well using Pigments. I have a ten thousand really complicated presets provided by the factory - but to be able to reconstruct these basic sounds is just what I was after.
I can't express enough gratitude for this excellent video. I was tasked with learning this for a PF tribute band, with not a lot of time to do it in. This gave me everything I needed. Cheers.
Hey Andy, new subscriber here. This was a great video for learning the parts and also placement. I will delve into your profile and see what else is exciting in there. TYSM. I am a keyboardist/lead vocalist in a San Diego cover band, and I use a Fantom 07. Looking forward to your future projects.
In my life I was lucky to work together with italians. Here I see the same common approach: "Well, I say it is OK. Let's go." Just "I say it is OK." No doubts, no extra parfectionism - just accept life as it is. And - it works!! Many thanks 🙏
Hi! Thx for the great video! The fist sound I recognized is at 1:17 = KLF - 3 A.M. Eternal ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ihSjmmLF4wU.html
First of all I must thank you for the great video about West End Girls I noticed that you have a lot of synths there , so I need to know if you can help me about MIDI issues I have the KORG KRONOS 2 , and I work with Logic Pro 11 ,I can use the Sequencer of logic , using the sounds of the Kronos , my question is : Can I make a full song in my Kronos , and then put all the midis in logic the 16 Channels and to have all the Kronos sounds in every single track in the sequencer of Logic? Now I do a Song and then track by track I'm using the audio record in logic , I want to put all the 16 tracks , the MIDI tracks in logic and then star to create every single track in audio , may I explane it good? Thanks a lot again I hope you can help me
Fun fact - the re-recorded version of west end girls (the one you are using as your guide) was recorded virtually live with virtually now sequencing used.
Hi, Andy Many thanks for your Pet Shop Boys video. I wonder why you used a DAW to record it rather than the Kronos's internal sequencer. I've used Korg sequencers to make backing tracks since the 80's and would practically swear by them. The basic techniques remain the same from the M1 to the OW1 (PRO) to the Oasys. The Kronos OS looks identical to the Oasys and once you know the CC codes you can do all kinds of things in the way of fancy editing. Perhaps you know that yourself, though. What I enjoyed most, after your wild enthusiasm, was seeing someone else doing what I also love to do. So, please do make more videos like this one! Les Barraclough ST ANNE'S ON SEA UK
Hey, thank you so much for your comment, really appreciated... yes, i do use the Kronos sequencer, but not very often... i prefer working with DAWs... I will definitely create more videos like this, as I do enjoy making them, and doing deep dives on tunes...
