I spent many nights in these taxis during my time in British Army of the Rhine. The sound of the engine takes me back to the 80s One of the best cars ever made Brilliant
I still have fond memories of my dad's 220D. Solid build quality, elegant design and robust performance; just an overall splendid car, the kind Mercedes seems to have no interest making anymore.
I still remember my first ride in an identical car in 1975. A lovely car, though two things I remember that stood out - it had a crack across the windscreen and it was very slow (about 130kph max).
We have one 220 w114 ,1969 but w/gasoline engine ,in Colombia South América .Amazing machine ! Not all parts are easy to get here. ,so not as good condition ,but still amazing machine !
I currently own a 220D and the e gone noise has actually given me some reassurance, despite the huge oil leak that needs to be fixed. Looks like with a bit of an engine overhaul my 220D could last another 10 years at the least
