Some handy keybinds to speed up building that you don’t seem to be using yet are F1 to toggle between no grid/grid/grid snapping, F2 for terrain level outlines, T for mirroring (if you mirror the flats at 50:32 they won’t be off center anymore) and R to rotate 90 degrees. Plenty more out there as well, have a look at the controls at your leisure 😊

It would be best if you built the industry first. Find something you can easily export, like oil, as it requires no workers. Use foreign workers to build it. Then, when you are making some money, move on to something you can import-export efficiently, like alcohol. In a simple factory, 20 corn goes in, 6 alcohol comes out, and the same truck that imports corn will export the alcohol. Build it close to the customs house. Then build another and another. Once you can't supply it with foreign workers, you build a city to supply workers to your factories. Also, your apartments have a quality rating that seems to affect happiness. pick the highest quality you can afford.
@TEverettReynolds
@TEverettReynolds 24 дня назад
You are building too fast. You have no income. You need revenue first. Then you bring the people in. Oil exports require no workers, just infrastructure. Use foreign workers to build that. Then you export all the oil you can. I was able to get 5K per month. Then I built an alcohol factory, imported corn, and exported alcohol. It was very, very profitable. Then I built a small city to supply workers to the alcohol pant. Then, I built Fabric-Clothes Factories. Again, corn gets imported, and clothes get exported. My train brings in $25k per trip. Then, I expanded my city to feed the clothes factories. One Fabric, two Clothes factories need 260 people at full operations. See? Don't give up. Don't take out any loans, you can't afford to pay anything back. You must live within your income. 3rd City Name: Braveado

If a location needs 25 people, you need to plan for 75. There are three 8-hour shifts, so in a single 24-hour day, you need 3 x 25 = 75. And that is only if they decide to work there. You sometimes need to tell them where to go to work. Since food is so important, you usually start by ensuring that there are enough workers there. You can also scale down the number of workers you need. In the beginning, you don't need 25 people working in your store, you only need like 5-10. That then leaves more people to work elsewhere.

I run a 6700XT 12GB graphics with a AMD 7700X, 32GB DDR5 and I can run this game at 4K high graphics and still get 70 to 120 FPS. The only thing I found was I turned off was antilag, and turned on AMD Chill and limit FPS to 120. I have found the new maps, especially those with lots of trees and stuff do run a little slower but not over bad, a few fps. I run on m2-NVME drives as well. Maybe software you're running in the background is taking its toll.

Next time you "open" a new city, you better ensure you have all your needed items, like food. I actually had dedicated trucks queued up for that. All my buildings were allocated to send workers somewhere. About 33% of my buildings sent workers where they were needed the most, just supporting the city. I had some buildings with only educated workers too. You can't let happiness or health fall below 80% or else... Also, your apartment buildings matter, note that they also have a happiness rating, the larger ones you built only allow up to 78%... I slowly opened my city, one apartment building at a time, making sure all their basic needs were met. Only then did I allow others to move in as workers for the industries. Last thing, limit the bus stops to only workers.
@TEverettReynolds
@TEverettReynolds Месяц назад
You can't just add up the workers you need, as they don't work 24/7. It seems like you need three times as many, maybe for three 8-hour shifts every 24 hours.

something that might be useful in addressing further water woes: it's worth remembering that the small water pump has a throughput capacity of roughly 50 m3/day while the big one can do 150/day. the game doesn't actually say this anywhere, and it can be a huge source of frustration.

Large pump can add up to 6 bar divided by number of connections, so the best results you get with only single in and out of it. Then you'd get 5 bars on input to water tower. Put unpowered switches on exits from tower, connect all substations to them and you should have 5 bar in whole network. Switches are only buildings that pass pressure. Pumps might be bottlenecking you. But there is no point in putting large pipes everywhere. After splitters pipes should be smaller and smaller as water has to spread somehow and still keep pressure. There is limitation of how system works. Buildings prioritise substations that were placed first, so they can overload them and not pull from alternatives. What is truely bottlenecking you is probably small pump on pipe from well to treatment plant. The way you put second well wont work at all. You need a pump or height difference between them. Simplest system would be well>large pump>treatment>large pump>tower>splitters>substations. Large pipes all the way to splitter, smaller from there.
@Black_Akkarin
@Black_Akkarin 2 месяца назад
You have water tower with 300m3 of water, use it. Towers works as pump you can easy connect switch to water tower and water will be delivered with proper pressure, you don't need pump after water tower to deliver to substation. I tested even more then 2000m from water tower and water was delivered to substation without pump. Water well--->pump---->water processing--->pump---->water tower----> switch-----> water substation. If in this chain there's no water tower always use pumps. Switches don't block pressure just divide it by output. So carefully plan always ahead how much water you will be needing for living blocks so the water substations can handle them. Last rescue is always 1 water truck standing and waiting to deliver water to water substation if something is going wrong. Water you can load directly from water processing plant - no need for extra loading building. I never checked does water business is profitable. Water has own price but chemicals also so I don't know if selling water to custom house would be profitable ;)?? hmmm. Wrong about that water substation doesn't tell you "%" You have, depends, 1,5m3, 2,3m3, 5,3m3 daily usage --->check what max capacity valve can deliver; then you have to check what water tower/pump can deliver and so on so on. Pressure is delivered by pump or water tower. This game is complex but in way I love:) Gravel more roads, your machines are unproductive need engagement for them. Wastes.... with my 9000 people city i need a train to remove wastes produced by that number, my whole waste sorting chain and electricity incinerator cannot manage such a amount of wastes. Have over 30 big container trucks that manage wastes from only city. Imagine that on custom house you would have queue till Garry station. The waste issue will increase and increase with people number, free dumps will never cover it. Don't worry, learning curve is huge so give it time :) Mistake after mistake but at the end success, it will come. If there will be season 3 start from gravel, boards, brick industry first without any city building. Easy you can manage this with workers from custom house (small microbuses) Don't forget about small number of firefighters from custom house, fire make you cry. Then farms and crops, then clothing, food, booze and after that start with building first city that's my tip.
@Braave_
@Braave_ 2 месяца назад
I love reading these in depth comments! Thank you so much. So by the sounds of it my issue is the lack of water substation supplying the city and I can remove the issue by adding more while using the water tower to supply the water. That makes sense, I will still build the other well since I placed it and cannot hurt anything! So if I am understanding correctly this should help my situation! If we fail this season, you bet your bottom dollar we are going again! lol. Thank you for being around and helping me through this journey! I feel I am the authentic normal player experience and I show that in my gameplay, by really having no idea what I am doing and hopefully that encourages more new players to get this game as it really is a great game with SO much detail, but might drive new players away because they think that they just cannot get it, but my gameplay shows that you need to start somewhere lol

Exporting water? No way. Maybe if you run trucks to buy drinkable water you could export dirty to not run empty half a way, if such mix would have positive value at all. (water is mix of water and sewage with negative price under the hood) You must be doing something wrong with trash. Small incinerator without sorting is keeping up with 17k city in my setup. After sorting I don't even have to spread ashes into additional dumps. I have about dozen small trucks gathering from residentials, half a dozen large ones for industries and another dozen transfering it all to incinerator, importing foreign waste for sorting and scooping old dumps from early game. If I'd cut it only to transfer to incinerator, half a dozen should manage. Before building incinerator I was filling about three big simple dumps yearly. What are they? 270 t each?

Starting with manufacturing with foreign labour, and starting with gravel, bricks or boards, is probably the most idiotic thing one can do on Realistic mode in this game. The volumes and prices of these goods mean that there is hardly any income from those, especially if you employ foreigners to produce them. A big misconception less experienced players have, is that you need your own manufacturing of building materials in the early game. Nope, can't be further from truth. The reality is that you need a finite amount of everything for your first city / first industry, and this amount can easily be imported by one temporary distribution office with two-three trucks. You don't have the manpower, the equipment, the demand or money to build enough to justify your own construction materials. Only when you are in a position to create setups that require materials in their thousands, then you begin to benefit from domestic production, but again, only for the comfort of not waiting till your stocks are replenished. Figuring this stuff actually becomes very easy once you get on top of your numbers. You then quickly realize, that a cost of domestically produced 1 tonne of bricks using imported coal is the same as imported 1 tonne of brick. Boards only become viable export if shipped out by rail or water. Look at the prices of all things involved into producing something, and you'll quickly figure out what's good and what's just a vanity exercise. Some people (including some RU-vidrs) say doing numbers is 'not fun' for them. Fine, but then Realistic mode is not for you. If you aren't on top of your maths, very little makes sense, and you begin to claim the game to either be buggy or too difficult. The only thing difficult in this game is actually saving it and going to bed, as the pleasure of creating these setups is so immense, it has potential of ruining families. What I do: - immediately gravel the roads (all of them) and build local storages. Ideally, powered ones, as those with cranes are much faster at loading trucks - begin importing gravel and building materials to your domestic storages. Two trucks on each job is enough - build first city of around 450 - 700 inhabitants - build full clothing setup (one fabric factory + 2 clothing factories), maybe even a double setup - build an alcohol and food factories - build a large farm with 25-30 fields, which should yield up to 18000 tonnes of crops per harvest - push clothing and alcohol production to the max, food - enough for domestic consumption, only creating surplus if clothing & alcohol production are at full tilt Not a single rouble taken out in loan, big annual profit by 1962.

I'm a day or 2 behind so you may have already fixed this, but your polution problems were caused by garbage, not your unbuilt pumpjacks. Frankly, your whole gargabe set up is a bit of a mess haha. Way too many dumps and trucks, not enough large gabage stands, especially outside of your industries. And garbage trucks cant drive over pedestrian bridges and through pedestrian tunnels so the garbage stand you placed at 54:24 ish currently cannot be serviced by a garbage truck, so eventually once everyting is built around there it will fill up and cuase you more pollution sickness problems. You need to conect those footpaths south of the train tracks to a road.

@@Braave_you’re haemorrhaging money while talking about building the insanely expensive concrete production line that sells for 30 rubles a tonne, vs the 1500 for clothes. Nothing compares to clothes. Except perhaps nuclear fuel… but don’t worry about that. It’s winter so you need to get some fields down ASAP if you want crops this year. You only get 1 harvest a year on maps with snow. You can build your silos during the year while the crop fields are being planted and growing. Harvest doesn’t happen until August I think. With the farms you want 50% tractors and 50% combines, though you won’t need the combines until harvesting. The tractors plant the fields and then put fertiliser on, both liquid and solid, if it’s available in the farm building. With a small farm I would put down 5 or 6 medium fields initially and fill up any gaps with small fields. You can add more next year if your farm can handle it. Pay attention to the colour dots when putting them down, green is good, yellow or red means lost area from the farm = less crops. Connect with mud roads but consider upgrading to gravel for your covered hulls which need to pick up the crops once harvested by the combines. Place a distribution office near the farm for the covered hulls. You’ll want about 5 trucks.
@Yarmoss
@Yarmoss 2 месяца назад
You really also need to tell your construction offices to get their workers from your bus stops in town. Stop importing workers. This will cut down on traffic at your border. If you placed 4 open storage’s somewhere between the border and your CO (one for bricks, steel, planks, and prefabs) and got a DO to fill them up and told your CO to get their stuff from them, that would also cut down traffic at the border. You may already have done this with your lumber industry up and running. Your fuel tanker can take liquid fertiliser to the farm. Get a large garbage truck to deliver solid fertiliser as well. Once you have crops in next winter you can tell your trucks to stop importing crops from the border and grab them from your silo instead. You may not have enough to last a full calendar year ( you only get one harvest per year on this map) but over 2 or 3 years you can keep on adding fields until you strike equilibrium

TIP coal mine and processing plant produce such amount of construction wastes that i have 4 big container stands and separate maintenance and distribution office only for that wastes. Coal power plant connected with small aggregate storage directly to processing plant, max capacity 20 workers and you will have free energy and 15MWh for sale. It's large investment so plan carefully. The mod for custom house is called "improved customs" in steam workshop, this are 3 files that you need to copy into game. Easy. Why you still keep draining workers from custom house when you have free work force on bus stations in town - waste of precious money. Struggling, easy credit money drains so fast... more and more and more. Stop building not vital things like statistic offices, fountains etc. Rush to money making investments - construction industry, food industry - you have dozens of workers that eat yours money but not bringing value added. Still mill... the costs will shock you at this moment, I think setting up still mill is out of the reach at this moment, and there's heck of workers needed, not mentioning coal and iron costs. Faster and less cost would be fuel industry or maybe chemicals, the building are huge. Bitumen also nice price aside fuel production - secured by the same distribution office - one time tankers investment. For both you also need technology. So till obtaining them set food industry - booze and food. Check mines now if they are close by. Invest in profit gain buildings not comfort giving, only vital things to maintain 70% happiness, you will not move higher without radio station, tv and secret police and that's far away. Then will be a time for beautifying.

For power requirements: look at the properties of each building - it says 'Circuit breaker". That's your power requirement at full tilt, which rarely happens. Basically, one power booth can power quire a large industrial complex. Water / Sewage: unless an industrial building specifically lists water requirement for it's operation, it means only drinking water is required for the workers on the site. Those can be easily served by trucks, as actual volumes are minimal. It's still better to hard-pipe everything as soon as you have disposable income, as that infrastructure is immune to fires, but yes, trucks can help. If a building specifically lists water a requirement, no amount of trucks will be able to help. All numbers are available in the buildings properties.

Perfect! Can those trucks fill up water from the water tower in town and then directly deliver? Or do you need an unloading water station to unload the water into a substation that goes into the building?

@@Braave_ loading station or water treatment plant, but loading at the latter is much slower. By the way, fabric factory needs clean water, despite not explicitly saying so. Basically when you come to construct a fabric factory you need a direct pipe connection for actually manufacturing fabric and a water outlet similar to what you have in the city for the employees to be able to drink.

CS2 sucks. Its the CS2 release that got me on to Workers and resources. Now cities skylines 1 and especially 2 is boring.Minimal skill required, just PAINT a city. This game is what CS2 SHOULD have been like.

I forgot to mention it, but you will also need a fire station for your gravel complex. It is far too far away for the cities fire station too reach it, and the gravel complex is too expensive to let it burn down.

you should build a rail bypass for cargo trains that won't stop at the passenger station.
