Oh my god! You were the guy I was speaking to after a zwift race, i think it was stage 7 of these punchy power races? The one where the guy went off the front and was in the wrong category? I was T.Wiz, the one talking to you! Great vid by the way!
Good race, you did very well! Funny for me to see this race from your perspective. I kept repeating to myself "Don't put your nose in the wind, don't put your nose in the wind", that seems to have worked this time. With that descent into the final sprint that one is always gonna end in a bunch sprint :)
Thank you mate! Well done on 2nd place! I also had every intention to just ride the pack until the sprint, but then someone attacked on the final climb leading up to Arc de Triomphe, and I decided to shut that attack down, but by the time I caught onto it, we had a tiny gap. I was in two minds if I was to keep on the power or slowly back it off to allow the group to catch up. Burned my legs slightly. But it was good fun. Surprised I was able to hold on until the sprint. Great job again!
OUCH is all i can say. Well I can say more actually. In this race, there were sprint points and KOM points up for grabs. I'm not a climber, so I figured I'd go for sprint points. The sprint points were up for grabs pretty much right at the start of the race. Naturally, that completely cooked me for the rest of the race, but I had a fun little battle with S. Greenwood!
Incredible!!! Great race!! You are really improved like a qualified cat B rider!! Our group finished this stage around 34:24 two days ago. You guys are fast!
Thank you mate! I really appreciate that! Absolutely very painful though. So I've still got a long way to go before I can comfortably sprint at the end haha.
I said I was back into zone 2 in the town after the aqueduct, but, then I realised my HUD wasn't updating with HR etc! It was stuck saying 2. :D Def more than that.
So it turns out that the rider who placed first did not have heart rate data, thus is ineligible to place in this stage of the Chasing Tour. That means the bunch sprint is for the stage win!
A fantastic effort by L Freeth seems him take the win on this stage. Being able to stick with A and B cat, he managed to gain an insurmountable lead to ride home for an easy win. BUT WHAT ABOUT SECOND???
Yeah it was a tough one for sure. But actually quite enjoyable. With enough small kickers before the main climb section to allow for a dynamic race for those strong enough. Perrson, in my race, displaying that. Had I raced at my time zones prime time, I would have absolutely been dropped a lot earlier though. The climb section is tough! How these guys can pump out that power for so long is beyond me, ha. Enjoy it when you get to it, mate! Set yourself a goal and try for that.
You are correct, I do enjoy watching you suffer. I am replacing the laptop with another to see if that resolves by Bluetooth connection issues. If that works then I can Chop with you and try to drive up the pace.
Well, I've upgraded to Cat B, at the same time as coming down with yet another cold thanks to my daughters daycare. Great timing, ha. I crack with one lap to go. But last time I was in Cat B in The Chop, I'd barely just make it to half way, so I'm happy with how I did tonight. Enjoy me absolutely suffer
Cheers mate. I think my heart rate is generally a little higher than most, due to a heart condition I have, but functionally, it works (hasn't exploded yet!). I think how I feel at 170, is how most fit folks feel at 160ish, so hopefully that means I can maintain a somewhat smooth riding posture/rate at a higher heart rate. Thanks again mate!
I think you need to do what I do and go cat c for the rides that don't suit you and cat b for those that do. Just like I ride b for everything except hillclimbs where I choose cat a
We had a guy go off the front in a similar effort to stay away from the pack at the end like you did. He went a bit earlier and he held for 5th. The sprint starts earlier than you think too.
Yep, agreed. Which is why I was shaking my head as I thought I had lost. It's happened before. Turns out there is a discrepancy between what I SEE and and the actual results determined by Zwift due to client vs server delays, I dare say. I checked out the strava activities for others in this race, and the person who finished in 3rd place, just behind Vermeer and myself had a video of the finish. On that video, it looks like we run a dead heat into the line, rather than one avatar being in front of the other. So it was definitely a close finish!
The "1st person" view in zwift is very oddly positioned well behind the "real" head. We have seen this for Chris before where he looks to be second in 1st person, but watching a co-racers stream in 3rd he clearly won.
I used a full aero set up. Specialized Venge S-Works with the DT SWISS ARC 1100 DICUT DISC wheels. Good luck! There are some sections where the gradient gets a little steep, but if you push hard enough, they're over and done with quickly and you can start to recover.
@@YerenRosie I used the Felt AR with the DT SWISS ARC 1100 DICUT DISC wheels. I think the times are basically the same for those setups but the Felt is a lower level.
What a wild moment for you to pop up in my feed again all these years later lol. I remember we were on twitch chatting in a game dev charity stream like 10+ years ago and I followed your youtube channel back then! How you been?
Hahaha yeah it has been a while hasn't it? I remember that charity stream too! They were making a game where you had to hack and slash the enemies and you've collect a whole bunch of different types of hats and weapons and stuff like that. It was good fun! Have been well over these last 10 years. Married with a kid now! Life moves on and on and on. How about yourself?
@@YerenRosie I remember the game very well! I remember coder Michael was really funny and took ideas and such for the game! Loved that. I've since released a (mobile) game on my own actually! I like to think all those dev streams and such inspired me to make one myself. Congrats on the marriage and your kid! That's awesome! I've yet to start a family, but am enjoying life none-the-less :) -cakeordeath11
@alwayspureblood Ahaha thank you! Yeh sure I wouldn't mind doing a video like that for you:P Let me know if you want me to edit something and I'll do it!

@Hot4Jason hahahahahaha Thank you:P I spent quite a long time on the video:P So im glad you enjoyed it! I had fun searching for all the sounds and everything haha!
Whielyex IS back! Amazing video; RU-vid's "Like" button option is inadequate (although I used it anyway). Very funny, perfectly choice for sound effects - complimented action very well and spell effects were top notch! Must go watch again. Love to see the return of Harry Potter themed videos. =)
