I hadn't seen or even heard about this before today, and I am stuck for words. What an incredible undertaking, what a community, what an incredible man.
I saw The Teacher video about a year ago and then had the hardest time finding it again. I had no idea where it was from. I then saw Michael Sheen talking about The Passion on Graham Norton and decided to take a look. Imagine my surprise when I realized it was part of that story! My admiration of Michael Sheen has always been immense, but it has increased a 1000x fold after this. I am not religious, but I know the story and it moved me to tears. He is truly a national and international treasure and Port Talbot and its citizens are amazing. Bless you all!
Cant believe it is 10 years since The Passion. Wonderful actor Michael Sheen. I followed it for the weekend but couldnt cope with the cruxification scene had to go home. Di Botcher brilliant as his mother
Oh how wonderful! So emotional to watch. It was lovely to see how the people of Port Talbot came together. Michael Sheen is an exquisite actor and a deeply caring man - just a wonderful human being. I had heard about this Passion and was so happy to see this. Thank you to all involved and especially to Michael. I bet he slept well when it was all over! Just incredible, deeply moving and inspirational. 💕💗❤️
I wish my mam and dad had been still alive I'm sure they would have been enjoying this performance, they used to live right near the sea front and we were all brought up Christian ✝️ hopefully they were there in spirit 🏴🥰
Both my parents were Welsh from Cardiff and Swansea in their retirement they bought a house in Port Talbot the place they passed away, my mams family were the Crawshaw Bailey family from Merthyr Tydfil who created the steel works in Merthyr, we often visited the Castle that the family owned also Hensol Castle Cardiff, I miss my mam and dad so much, we live down south but my family members live in Newport and black wood I will be visiting them all next month, sending love to all the lovely Welsh folk 🏴👏👏
Seeing how much went into this project my already large respect for Michael not just as a person but as an actor in general seeing how much love and passion he and so many others put into this project has made my respect and admiration of him go up Tremendously I absolutely adore this man he can always pull the strongest emotions from the people that watch his performances brilliant brilliant man ❤️❤️
It was compiled into a film called "The Gospel of Us" but I found it a bit difficult to follow. Much prefer this version of it all. Doesn't make a lot of sense if you take Jesus and the Passion out of it but casts a whole new light on that
Trivia: The "God-like figure" on the scaffolding is Mr.Pugh, if you've ever had the roof of your house in Port Talbot repaired it was probably by him. Hence he had no fear of heights.
Thank you! I was googling the hang out of The teacher's father, God, etc. As an aside - I don't think fixing roofs gave Mr. Pugh the lack of fear of heights. I think the lack of fear of heights enabled him to fix roofs...

I'd heard about the play from interviews and I always pictured this huge thing but seeing it like this. but what I pictured is nothing compared to this... this is INSANE. such a large community-wide experience, pulling from the community itself. it's gorgeously done. I'm not particularly religious but the story is wonderful and the actual... the community coming together to do this and the emotion... I have no words. amazing achievement
What alternative did they have ? I remember travelling from Swansea to Cardiff, every day, before the advent of the M4. Port Talbot was a nightmare with the railway crossing the main road in Town. We would have to wait for the trains to arrive, and often that would mean a 30 - 40 minute wait. The elevated road was the only solution to the traffic chaos.
Thank so much for sharing this ❤️ Incredibly moving production, I cried many times, what a beautiful effort by the entire community, you can feel the love and dedication that went into this by so many people coming together to share their stories ❤️
