In terms of the damaging of follicles and the growth of transplanted hair, would you therefore say that it was safe to shave your head by running a clipper over it a month after a transplant ? This would be to keep it short for the first few months before the implanted hair starts growing.
One other question. If I had a transplant in the front, could you restore my hair line to when I was a teenager by effectively bringing down the temple areas? Both of my grandfathers lived their entire lives without losing any hair and had low hairlines. So I don't see why I couldn't have that as well.
Just got off the phone with Rogaine and they said before they came out with their product they only tested and did studies on the vertex or crown area of the scalp. This is why they put on their box that it is not recommended for frontal thinning. Not sure why, after all of these years they have not tested their product on frontal thinning, though. They also will not tell customers to try it. It's like the company wants nothing to do with the frontal thinning issue, which seems to be more common than the crown thinning.
Hey Dr. Berstein, i'm a 19 year old male who's always had fine hair, over the past year or two has begun to notice a receeding hairline to the point where it's bothering me and I feel I need to do something about it. Is there a certain course of action you would suggest? I'm considering using minoxidil along with Ketaconazole, don't won't to use finasteride due to the supposed side effects. Will this maintain my hairline and thicken my hair in both the short and long term?
Is it possible to still lose your hair after a hair transplant, such as the area that suffers the male pattern baldness effects the new transplant area?
I have a question Dr. Bernstein? If your hairline is receeding, but theres still semi-thin hair there will minoxidil still hold and make your semi thin hair become thicker?
hello doctor, thank you for your video. 3 weeks after FUT hair transplant, is it possible to use TOPPIK without harming the grafts and the future growth? thanks
Very interesting but how can you tell if you have Diffuse Patterned Alopecia ? Can one get tested or is there a physical examination. What triggers this to happen?
hi I had transplant its my 5th month start and some time i feel very itchy on my recipient area and its very annoying I do scratch and I notice my new transplant hair shedding some time I don't know it is because of scratching my head, and I was using minoxidil since I had transplant so that's y after using minoxidil I wash my head with shampoo some time I saw new hair falling ,does this minoxidil is necessary to use after hair transplant or its not important ,and shedding new hair is it normal
Hi Dr Bernstein, I am 23 years old and have been on propecia for about a year and a half. I am taking it for receding hairline at the temples. after examining my temples and comparing to photos from before i began im finding it hard to see if it is working. One thing i have noticed is less hair fall out when shampooing and sitting at my desk. My receding temples seem to be especially prominent on my right side. I would really appreciate your thoughts on this. Thank you
When you're groggy and look in the mirror, and don't recognize the guy staring back at you, it's more than time to take some action. That's what happened to me, attractiveness was just drivel. I wanted to see some semblance of the me I grew up with, and I am happy with the result
I just had a procedure at medical hair restoration yesterday morning. Im 25 and my hair was thinning front to back..it was noticeable to me and lots of people around me. I see it as, if i do nothing..I WILL go bald (family history) at least I did something and I do believe it will work. If I begin to bald once again in 10 or 15 years, it will be easier to accept. All the while..Im sitting here with copper peptide rags stuck on my head :)
I'm not trying to tease but how can anybody loose hair at age 16 or 18?! I thought MPB doesn't start until you turn 20. But I guess I was wrong. It would really suck to have students in high school tease you for going bald. I was teased in High School and I wasn't even going bald! Imagine if I was! I started loosing my hair at age 22 and it hasn't gotten much better since. I still haven't given up. Anyways good luck to you and check out Propecia.
People transplant their hair because people tend to look older when they are bald. If you ask me which one is better propecia/rogain or transplant. I would choose transplant anytime if you have the money.
Im a woman 26 years old and have been loosing my hair for years now,Can anyone help?I just wanna cry,it bothers me so bad and I look older.Been taking vitamens and Im afraid to use the other stuff on my scalp.
He said on Good Morninag America that not everyone is a good candidate for a hair transplant (all they do is move hair from where it is thick to where it is thin) and he that he is not a good candidate. If you are thinking about getting hair transplant make sure you go to someone who is going to tell you the truth about your chances.
actually when you think about it if he IS the best doctor doing this (as they said in New York Magazine)who is he supposed to trust to do HIS surgery?. plus it reads on his web site that based on his type of baldness he is "not a good candidate for a hair transplant".
