I took the test in 2020 after I had renewed my certificate. passed the exam. Now it is 2024 and my certificate expires in 2025. The state legislature moved the finish line. I can no longer use that passing test meet the reading endorsement.
This JUST happened to me this past Saturday. I took the Prek-3 ELA and was quite frustrated even before I began taking the exam. Per the DOE site, it stated that the test would have approx 50 questions and I ended up having 61! That NOT an approximate! When I took the Developmental Knowledge, it also stated approx 50 questions and that one had exactly 50. I just don't understand how they gave me 11 additional questions and did not give me MORE time! Not to mention, several questions had verbiage and terms I had NEVER come across during my studying. So, now idk if Im being scored off of 50 questions or 61 questions? Were some of these questions just "experimental" and wont count towards my total score? I just so frustrated and nervous to say the least. Sigh...
I failed it by 11 points(FTCE)... I tried to use the "STOW" on the exam, but it felt like it knew the test-taking strategies and would ensure the answer choices were tough to break down and understand. The questions were SO HARD compared to the study guides from NAVED and the videos I see here. It's like they amped up the difficulty mode to "Nightmare" and it sucks because I was feeling super confident about taking the test because of how much I've been passing the study guide tests on the first attempt. I wouldn't feel so down terrible right now if it weren't for the fact that now I have to spend another $150 for an exam. I might just have to drop out if I fail it again....
Not using logic. I had a veterinarian doctor friend do 5 practice questions for the ESE exam that I found difficult and she aced it all. I asked her how she did it and she just said she read the answers and used logic.
Thanks so much Dr. A! I watched a bunch of your videos and because of your amazing test taking strategies…I took the FTCE Reading K-12 test today and passed! I plan on implementing your strategies w my students in next year’s FAST! A million Thank You’s to you and your team! Work smarter not harder! Absolutely! ❤️❤️❤️
Question, just moved to Texas. Can you tell me what test I need to take for certification. Degree in Secondary Education, History. Do I need the Social Studies test or History exam?
Can you help solve this pls? There are 20 male and 12 female dancers in a dance school. How many pairs of dance partners can be arranged? Can the answer be 20!/8! *12
I don't entirely understand the last question. It was specified that this was literacy skills that can contribute to the overall academic performance. Literacy specifications were mentioned twice in comparison to the once mentioned "overall academics." For this reason, I chose answer choice D as it was the only one that mentioned both reading and writing (the two elements of literacy). Was this just a really good distractor? How do I make sure I put enough weight on the correct word phrases besides quantifying them?
Congratulations on passing the STR. We have Constructed Response examples and rationale in our bootcamp: thelearningliaisons.com/course/ftce-english-6-12-boot-camp
Hi Dr Jason I’m 58 a teacher of English in India and retired currently. Can I take the praxis exam online and will it be eligible to permit me to teach in USA specially in Sputh Carolina.
We can't see any reason why you couldn't do this. Best practices would have you contact the South Carolina school district where you intend to teach and/or the South Carolina Department of Education. They will have the latest information specific to that region. We wish you luck!
So, grammar doesn't matter in these kinds of questions? Case in point, to say "student's" either talks about something beloning to the students, or 'is/has' after the noun students, which, as an ESL/EFL instructor, I would automatically feel suspicious of the answer. However, it was also obvious that option C was the only one that made sense.
Hello, DR, im from Tennessee, and I want to land a teaching job. What can I do? I have a bachelors degree from engineering in information technology from India. Can you please tell me how can i proceed?
Greetings! The best thing you can do is get ahold of the local school district where you are planning to relocate. They and the Tennessee Department of Education will provide the most current steps you will need to take toward your teaching job. Good luck!
English is my second language. My 2nd grade teacher made sure I learned and I want to be just like her. In college, my papers were excellent and I was in the Dean's List. My favorite grade is K-2.
