when i played this game 15 years ago my first unique ring was soj stopped playing because it was destroying my life. account expired soj gone with all my 40+ hrs good times...
Funny how awesome SOJ's are, but I never ever use them. I prefer a rare 10% fcr with res for dmg/survivability, or even a 30% nagel ring. Even a blue fcr with a large chunk of mana on it. I have a 10%fcr with 115 mana on it. Its so dope.
So hilarious, I was like what are these? Then I said around ring 15 or so... these are NM andarial rings... then I looked down. Just shows my level of knowledge, ego smile. :)
I hope you know to not farm nightmare Andy for sojs in multiplayer. When botting I used to run nightmare Andy, mephisto, travincal and Baal. Best chance at lower level good unique like magefist, chances, sojs, etc In he'll you can get sojs too so just run he'll if possible. Single player make sure to bug the Andy quest
Ruslakall It took me 56 nm Andy runs to get my first SoJ. Total luck as everyone I've told that to says I should be in the 100's. Best of luck man! The grind never ends.
As written in the description, this is Single Player, 1.14d (with insight from 1.13 plugy since ladder rune words are for some inexplicable reason not permitted in single player by default). No temporary bans in Single Player :) - can run it however fast you want!
Inspired by your video I also filled my stash with unique rings from NM Andy. Unfortunately, I got only one SoJ. However, the chance for 2 SoJ is slightly better.
That's really cool to hear that you took up the challenge! My sample size of two sets of 48 rings is far too small to draw any conclusions from - but I just found it fun to showcase that it is possible to pretty much guarantee to find a legit SoJ yourself within a couple of hours worth of visits to NM Andariel. Most seem to think that a SoJ is this mythical item that never drops (and that's to do with its ilvl) but that's not the entire story. Again, thank you for your comment.
kalixta :) Did you ever farm for them though like I did here? I've only found 1 SoJ from one of the chests in Durance of Hate near Mephisto - that was not expected. I think because of the lowish item level of the SoJ they are really (really) rare in hell.
jay lay NM Andariel has the highest drop chance in the game for the Stone of Jordan. Unlike her Hell counterpart, the only unique rings she can drop in NM are Manald Heal, Nagelring, and the Stone of Jordan. Also, check a drop calculator for the actual chance percentage but it is the highest out of any monster in any difficulty for a Stone of Jordan. I'm not the first to point this out, this was just a fun experiment to see how many Stones of Jordan I can get legitimately for my Single Player characters.
Actually Nightmare Andariel cannot drop Ravenfrost! The unique rings that she drops are Manald Heal, Nagelring, and the Stone of Jordan. (And of course the set rings but those are really just diluting the pool). In my second attempt doing this (see link in description) I got really scared because I didn't see anything at all... I thought. Thanks for watching and commenting nevertheless.
If you want Ravenfrost, the best chance to get one is by running Bremm Sparkfist and the other superuniques near Mephisto. I think I even got a ravenfrost or two from Mephisto himself.
+Audeamus-Gaming If you roll a set item, but the monster can't drop a set item of that category, you get a blue item. So Andariel being able to drop set rings is not lowering your odds of a unique.
Thank you for your comment and feedback! Based on the experience I got from the runs I estimate that it took approximately 800 runs to get these 48 rings from NM Andariel. You should be seeing a unique ring every 17-18 runs (if you run around 450 MF like I did) and running it in /players 8 you can expect it taking about 12 seconds if you roll a good map (so you get to Andariel quickly) and do enough damage to kill her quickly (I used a fireball sorceress doing about 10k damage per fireball). So all in all, maybe 3 hours of effective farming (add more time for loading into the games, etc). It can be done in two sessions. If only NM Andariel wouldn't drop the set rings, the frequency of SoJs would increase dramatically... Let me know how your hunt goes if you ever decide to try to get a SoJ from NM Andariel!
Marko Polo The only unique rings that NM Andariel can drop are Manald, Nagel, or SoJ (not counting the set rings). So it's pretty much either a jackpot or nothing at all every time you identify a ring! Besides, in terms of other good rings like Wisp, BK wedding band, etc - Hell Andariel is probably the best target. NM Andariel is by far the best for SoJ hunting! Ty for watching and commenting.
Thunder take you! Thank you for watching and commenting! I estimate based on the experience I got that it took around 800 runs to get 48 rings from NM Andariel for me. Basically you can expect to see a unique ring every 17-18 runs (I ran around 450 MF) and in /players 8 a run took me about 11-12 seconds. Mind that a lot of the rings she drops are going to be useless set rings (Cathan's and Angelic). Honestly if those rings wouldn't compete with the SoJ I think we would see many more SoJs per set of 48... I have another set of 48 rings on my channel if you want to see more identifying. Also, good luck with your SoJ hunting, let me know how it went!
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I've already seen your second ID video, too bad you got only one SOJ then. For now i have 7 unique rings from nm Andy, but none of them are SOJ. It didn't take much time to get those rings, and I expect to find SOJ in this week. I'll let you know if I get one. P.S. English is not my native language, so forgive me if I made some mistakes.
Got it! It took me far longer than I expected to get SOJ (it was my 60th unique ring from nm Andy), but now I finally have it. Thank you for your advices!
Thanks for getting back to me, congratulations on the SOJ! Statistically you should be seeing more than 1/60 but I can imagine you must be tired of running NM Andariel by this point. But even 1 SOJ makes a huge difference in SP and it's a great feeling when you know you've found it yourself. Happy MFing in the future, best of luck!
Yes, it was a challenge, I guess I made about 1500-2000 runs, and I don't think i'll do something like that in next few months. I guess farming big areas (Pit, Chaos Sanctuary) is much less dull than killing the same boss over and over and over again, so if I will be MFing in the near future, I'll be doing it there. Thank you again for your help!
foxeh123 I was really hoping I would get at least 1/48 after all those runs but it seemed so implausible. But there it was! Last one and I identified them in order of dropping as well.
Till Zaydowicz Thank you for your comment. This is 1.14 Single Player self-found. All the rings were identified in the order they dropped - I was as surprised as you to see that the very last ring was a Stone of Jordan. I assure you they are all legit. To prove it I might consider doing my next set in a time lapse so you see them dropping in real time (but I'm honestly quite tired of NM Andariel runs at this point). See my other video that is linked in the description if you want to see another set. Also see my website jahversusber.wordpress.com for some screenshots from my runs for further proof that the rings are legitimately found.
Audeamus-Gaming well, bringing so much afford into explaining that it is legit might be a trustable comment, but I watched the Video and told my self: what are the odds that the last ring is a soj. and was pretty sure if it is going to be a soj that it is fake(since it is possible with some programms) ofc i do accept it is legit and am Looking forward seeing some less discusable Videos from you :) gl with your yt- channel
maybe he copy pasted the save file on another folder, revealed all the rings on the save, individualized which one was the SoJ, then he came back to the file where the items were not revealed, ordered all the rings in his stash to make that happen.
I really don't see the point in theorising about whether or not someone would go through all that trouble for what, to make it look whether or not something is identified last, or not? Anyone playing single player can at any point cheat and give themselves infinite Zod runes, Tyrael's MIght, or whatever. This is not the point of playing single player, however. At least not for me. I play self-found and try to finish the grail (find all the unique and set items in the game). This was a fun side-project just to see whether I could show that it is possible to more or less guarantee a legit, self-found SoJ per 48 unidentified rings from NM Andariel (see my other video) and out of a sample of two sets of 48 rings, I did prove it. I ran two sets that took many hours to do, and was really excited to share my results. I thought that seeing some self-found items being showcased might prove refreshing from the d2jsp and live streamed botting that runs on youtube daily. Maybe I was wrong in that matter. I am really disappointed, however, to see the malicious, paranoid, and negative outlook in the feedback here on RU-vid lately, in some comments. It really isn't encouraging in terms of making more videos and I seriously admire some RU-vidrs that get tons of negativity and keep on track, seemingly unbothered. Kudos to them.
I didn't actually run a counter, but based on experience gained I estimate roughly 800, averaging seeing one ring every 16 or 17 runs. Might seem like a lot, but considering that a run takes less than 13 seconds in players 8 for me with this character, it's actually not too long a grind. Only 1 SoJ is quite disappointing (in my previous try I got 2) but in Single Player Self-found even 1 SoJ goes a long way! Thank you for watching and commenting.
the spud muffin maker Point taken but Wisp Projector, Bul-Kathos Wedding Band etc all only drop in Hell and above. As for this set of 48, the last one is actually a Stone of Jordan. Depending on your definition of 'shitty' - it might qualify as usable? This method of focusing on Nightmare Andariel is the most reliable way of finding a SoJ (other than trading, I am playing self-found Single Player). Thank you for watching though.
Yes, totally agree. When recording Diablo 2 there is this delay though that made my typing look slower than it actually was. I'll improve till next time though. Thank you for the feedback!
