Masters of Photography comprises of inspiring in-depth master classes in intimate one-to-one lessons that capture the knowledge, ethos and philosophy of some of these photographers. They are easy to understand lessons that inform and inspire any level of photographer to create better images on any type of camera device. The production concept for these masterclasses was to walk side by side with our master photographers, listening, watching and being inspired by how they create their spectacular imagery.
A great takeaway: Mario Andretti's comment about commitment. So many new photographers will ask 'what does it take'...and you hear answers like 'great equipment, good education, lots of practice" and, yada, yadda.. But it all starts with commitment. If you're not out there investing time in making images that matter, if you're not learning from your failures, if you're not making your camera an extension of your arm (yes, actually reading the manual), then you're really not committed to improvement and mastery. You might as well admit that your smart phone is about as far as you want to go. Which can actually be a good thing. As a camera club member reminds me: photography is one hobby where people are more than pleased to spend thousands of dollars to find out what they don't need. To find out how committed you really are, tally the number of days your equipment is sitting in a bag or drawer.
Probably one of the most powerful statements he made, is that he succeeded with about 6 pictures. Newbie photographers get the impression that they have to have a thousand great pictures under their belt. In reality, much of what they have stored on the external hard drive is learning material that could easily be scrapped. Saying you have '25000 images in memory" simply means at least 24,000 of them are wasting valuable space. Think quality, not quantity. Be ruthless.
March 24th i got my first camera, a Canon SX20, since then ive photographed birds in my area, and recently photographed birds in ireland. I need some education on photography and im excited to learn

Wow. I had never heard of this photographer but his work is absolutely stunning. The narrative shows just how much work is needed before even getting the camera out to achieve such work.
Yes, it's an ad, but it's short, nicely paced, and Meyerowitz makes many essential points, not limited to "photography as 'a license to see'," and that photography is fundamentally about ideas.
Please , people- don't get caught up in the brand name. I missed the freewheeling,shoot from the hip days .Taking subjects exactly I happened upon them ,street ,or, concert shoots with my pawnshop jewel,a Nikkormat FTN & 50 mm F2 Nikkor lense.I was consumed by lust for ,satisfied,through acquisition of an almost immaculate Leica M3 body.Purchased at an estate consignment ,paired with a 90mm Summicron- as my new, "normal" lense. I was caught, like deer in headlights, between two friend's opposing philosophies.The first a superb photographer ,devote' of all things "Leitz"but trapped by re- metering, Zone System &meticulous eye for composition & detail.The other ?a scruffy gnome who once actually spat on a lense to wipe it clean .But ,it was the gnome who taught me that "the moment" is more important. As he put it " if the Hindenburg went down in front of you -who cares what brand of camera you happen to own -just get the f...g shot !And a few years late, he would be vindicated by a very unique experience for me (about three choice minutes), one to one, with the late Andre' Kertesz.Who would advise ME, that evening, that "eet ees very important , to make zee mistake". See? Heed what they said.
This arent the best photographers . The places are different and with that interesting and impressive . With that lies you destroy the feelings of a lot of people . Shoot Something Boring is much more difficult
Yes sir, it's all about the rectangular, not so much square. Although I see the world as round which fits into a square, a portraits fits much better into a rectangular. Hasselblad a square, Pentax 6x7 a rectangular. I think the Hasselblad is the best thought out camera ever but I prefer a Pentax 6x7. Albert your book Cyclops was a true inspiration. I assisted in NYC from 85'/94'. Somehow I see you as the Ridley Scott of stills. Bladerunner comes to mind. Thank you for all your energy.
Soy fotógrafo aficionado, con ganas de ser pro. Soy fanático de todo lo que hacen y acabo de ver una vez mas un trabajo maravilloso en 2 minutos.
