I loved this performance. But I have a question. I assume that the first tune that they dance to is actually The Duke of Kent Waltz. What is the title of the second tune in the set?
I agree. There is a completely different tune sandwiched in the middle. The original tune is 32 bars comprising two 8 bar A sections followed by a 16 bar B. The 'inserted' tune does not seem a great match to me, and I don't see the need to add anything to the original tune.
Только с такой Божественной музыкой, ни какой "шляповирус" не страшен. Обожаю классику эпох "Ренессанс" и "Барокко"!!!!!!! Это лучшее лекарство от всех болезней!!!!!
Great stuff. I assume you've seen the Colin Firth/ Jennifer Ehle version. www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DdBgaO9Va5cA&ved=2ahUKEwi-nLDfgeDjAhX1oVwKHYV6BZUQwqsBMAB6BAgJEAU&usg=AOvVaw31Hm8J9P1kFEIwILRUW7Vz
If someone said that to such men in 1800s, 1 would have received a surprising (?) reaction. Such men were often landowners, large capitalists, or battle hardened army + navy officers. Not advisable to accuse them in public let alone face to face !!! Manners are NOT gender orientation based !!!
I do those dances too. Even other types and it can really just appear like that to the modern eye. I'm not gay at all. One of the beautiful things on this for me is actually having fun with charming women :D.
Although this is a popular dance, it is also a slightly troubling one, having two sets of original instructions, both open to a degree of interpretation of the detail. Passeggio have taken a couple of liberties here, and in my opinion, the dance is better for them. Having the first couple cross over before moving down between the second couple for the poussette figure so that the men are dancing with women and vice versa (and how that figure is resolved) seems to me quite delightful. The 'set and turn single' figures facing up rather than facing partner are also a pleasing innovation. Ending with a repeat of the processional figure was also a sensible decision, given that the circular hey which concludes the dance gives the impression of a lot of movement suddenly coming to a dead stop. But most of all, the skill and neatness of the dancers make this a real pleasure to watch.
Questo saltarello è la messa in scena d'una parte d'una leggenda romena, in cui un caccatore assassinato rinasce a traverso il ballo di sua fidanzata. Dopo, si sposano.
If only I could have been in the audience and seen the entire performance. Seeing these excerpts is like having only one spoonful of the world's best icecream. But although regretful for what I have missed, I am grateful for what I have seen. Thank you for sharing this video.
Actually it is/was the Passamezzo Historical Ensemble.... I think it should be mentioned, as well as the names of the musicians and singers.... And maybe that the music is from Monteverdi.....
