Hi, I’m Tiffany! I’m a former Goldman Sachs investment banker turned disability advocate, entrepreneur, speaker, and author!
I’m the author of THE ANTI-ABLEIST MANIFESTO (preorder at bit.ly/AntiAbleistBook), Founder & CEO of @DiversabilityLLC (winner of the 2020 Meta Community Accelerator demo day), and the creator of The #AntiAbleism Series on disability allyship (5+ million views).
At the age of 9, I became disabled in a car accident that also took the life of my dad.
I moved to Los Angeles in June 2022 and am documenting my life here.
You didn't paralize it, the accident did. The language, I think, is the hardest to undue. This is a case where person first doesn't fit. I'm invested in how you speak about yourself. You're doing important work.
I had the same thing done for both hands, I have carpal tunnel syndrome had surgery twice on my right hand still waiting for the left one for surgery, nothing seems to help 😢😢
As soon as I saw your thumb I knew you had a bpi. I too have the same injury and my arm looks identical to yours! I’m guessing the splint is to hold your wrist still so it doesn’t flop around? I only had the splint for 8 weeks and after that I am using a cockup splint. How long have you had your injury? I’ve just passed a year and 4 months.
This is soooo stupid. 😂 Maybe focusing energy on us all being together instead of constantly trying to blame, point figured, and figure out who the biggest victims are, we’d all be better off! 😅
I have two of these for my fingers. It's for straight them up because I have JIA(juvenile idiopathic arthritis) And while I use this I take a medicine called methotrexate and this is like a vaccine that I take at home on my thigh or on your belly. Hope you understand 💗
I had a splint made out of that cool stuff. It is wild to see it go from a flat piece of plastic, then dropped in hot water and turns flimsy like a dish rag, and then back to a rigid state.
I have a need for a custom brace. How do I ask my ortho for this or what do I ask for? I have a rare disease (prisers/AVN). It's a dead bone that I'm trying to keep from collapse but so far they just say well we'll fuse the wrist when it collapses, but give me nothing to prevent progress and I find that unacceptable. Ktape is great but not alway enough as it progresses. I was going to have someone 3d print me something but this would be so much better.
I received an injury to my brachial plexus nerves about 11 months ago rendering my right arm pretty much unusable. I wanted to see examples of how people healed from this type of injury over time and your channel came up on the search. Tiffany, you are genuinely an inspiration. For so long I kept hoping for some sort of miracle that would let me return to how my life was before but seeing someone with the same kind of injury and not slowing down in life has given me the push I need to accept my situation. September 18 will be the 1 year anniversary of my injury and I think I'll be heading into it in a new light and outlook on my life. Thank you.
@Lensky0101 that really means a lot! I hope you'll join the UBPN Facebook Group and join us at UBPN Camp in a few years to meet a lot of others with BPI
Not a silly question. Just very uneducated. Would something like this help a stroke victim who is prone to clenching fingers in their nonresposive side? My grandma has this issue and I'd love to suggest this if it would help her cause it causes fatigue to her shoulder that isn't paralyzed from tensing continuously.
I broke several bones in my hand and had surgery to insert temporary pins to set the bones in place. I had two of these types of splints. They were great splints that protected the pins that were sticking out my hand.
