On this channel our motto is BRINGING STEAM TO YOUR SCREENS.
On this channel I document my journey through the Golden Age of Steam and my time volunteering at 3 heritage sites (linked below) Tees Cottage Pumping Station (Darlington) - www.teescottage.co.uk Locomotion (Shildon) - www.locomotion.org.uk/home Crakehall Water Mill (Bedale) - www.crakehallwatermillcottages.co.uk/index.php/watermill/
We also show live steam models and model railways!
There’s something for everyone on Tees Cottage Guy Productions!
Hello James, I was there in 2018. I saw those very engines and even crossed above where the glass platform is. Thanks for posting this video as I didn’t see the engines running when I was there. London is an amazing city. I wish we had engines like that here in America. Keep up the good work. Your channel is very interesting.
Hi! Thank you for your kind words about my channel! Yes London is amazing, since I live in the north east I don’t manage to get to London at all much (last weekend was my first time back since 2013) but it’s a great place!
Gorgeous piece of machinery. Thank you for sharing. Seems the compressed air supply is less than adequate. A bit embarrassing for the folks who invented the reciprocating steam engine and started the whole industrial revolution...
Hi. For me it has to be Coronation in its original form. I have eight of these loco's in streamlined condition in my collection. Four in blue/silver,two in Maroon/gold and two in wartime black. I also have eight in rebuilt condition as well. Two blue, two maroon, two green and two black. As you can probably tell I really like the Duchess locomotive. Its a shame that only three still exist , should be more. Don't worry , if I win the lottery I will see if I can make it four. Good video. Regards.
Great video! Do you happen to know whether the machines are ever demonstrated running smoothly? This is barely enough air pressure to get them over top dead center - still better than being driven by an electric motor though.
An efficient steam engine will expand the steam for fuel economy. Compressed air doesn't expand anywhere near as much as steam does, making the engine pull vacuum for part of the cycle and have a lot less power. That's why they are surging like that.
I have a te1 named garry and a sr1 and a te1a that i got on my birthday and they all stand strong to this day (edit cant forget the trailer and canopy)
It just looks really odd just sitting there on that foreshore, it dose remind me of Britannia, built around the same time. Is there any restoration going on or plans to do so? It would be sad to let it just rust away!!
To be honest the plans seem to be many and varied. They want to get it open for public tours but from what I understand the lower decks need stabilizing.
@@teescottageguyproductions Sounds like there between a rock and a hard place! They need to generate income out of it, but it’s not up to it at present. Let’s hope they can get her sorted, could be great venue for events.
@Dave.w-ev9qn1962 it used to be an arcade centre called The Fun Ship and they do occasionally hold events at it today but only on the dock surrounding it, no access to the ship itself anymore yet
Another neat video James. You do realize that the whistle is a pressure relief valve also don't you? I didn't see you put any steam oil in the oiler. Did I miss that? I really like my D20 and am very proud of it.
Yes I do realise that about the whistle but I also fitted mine with a standard safety valve for peace of mind. I did put oil in the steam line but I just forgot to press record 😅. Thanks for the comment! I love the d20 engines and mine will be getting a lot more runs this weekend at the steam gathering
Exelant video Mr tees cottage guy Gotta say I love the red lettering at the front Why don't ye make a spirit burner I had to make one for my traction engine In sa hexamine tablets was impossible to get even before it was banned So i had to improvise Peice of copper pipe with 2 holes and a wick
Don’t look like that jell is any improvement on meth’s to me! Your engine runs a lot faster than I remember mine ever running, have you done any improvements?
Yeah I prefer Meths to the Gell! No I haven’t done any improvements all I’ve done is lightly restored it. I’ve compared it to my other TE1a and I think it has a slightly larger steam pipe which may help it reach higher RPMs
Those weaving machines are so LOUD. Even the camera mic is clipping haha. Can't imagine the hearing damage standing in an hall with 100 of those things, every day for hours on end.
Yeah I know it is, I think that’s how it was delivered from the Mamod factor as neither myself or the previous two owners had ever taken the firebox off. Thank you!! 😃
Between 1984 and 2004 I had 8 Mamod steam locos, about 2 dozen wagons and coaches as well as quite a bit of track (And, not to forget, the smallest of the steam engines). I visited the Mamod factory when it was in Slough. Owing to moves, first to the UK and then to Cyprus, I had to sell everything. I had a lot of fun with these locos, and I have good memories (especially of the 2 locos which I had converted to 0-6-0 wheel arrangement. They worked extremely well.
I realize that was the dress of the era, but all those open unguarded moving parts and loose, flowing dresses makes the safety instructor in me cringe!
