Guys i just realized, I have gotten old too. I had seen and watched these guys when they were young, now they are old. But Roz is still heartbreaking, breathtaking beauty.
Great to see this (I don't have the ability to do so) new "Frasier." But Peri Gilpin (while she looks amazing!) sounds like she's on some sort of beta blocker, or something that sloooows down her reaction time, speech patterns, etc. It's very subtle, but, (as one who still watches Frasier re-runs on DVD) I hope she's ok. Thanks for posting....
I know that the actor who played the father has passed (but it was nice that they named the bar after him, as his last name was Mahoney), but I wish the actors and actresses from the previous series had returned. And what is Frasier doing hanging around bars again?
I know they’re trying, but it just doesn’t feel like the same characters to me. I think sometimes too much time passes and these actors can’t just jump back into these characters. It feels off to me.
Something of note: The late John Mahoney (along with David Hyde Pierce) was the godfather of Mrs. Gilpin's daughter in 'real life.' Mr. Grammaer considered John the father he wished to have and David the brother he never knew he needed. When Kelsey toasts 'Martin," he really did pause due to the impact of John's passing. Peri's voice cracks when "Roz" agrees with the sentiment regarding Martin's loss, but that's not acting. Peri almost began to cry. John and the cast saved Kelsey in the darkest time of his life by forming an intervention due to Kelsey's latest run-in with the law during the second season of the series Frasier. He was everyone's 'dad' on the show. Mr. Mahoney was a US Army military veteran, a child survivor of the WW2 bombings of London, and a grateful Irish/British immigrant. He was also an excellent school teacher, an acclaimed Tony Award-winning thespian, and a good person-a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He will be missed.
I thought Donna would have been easier than other raindear names Freddie could simply ask if anyone has seen Donna at the party, without explaining who she was supposed to be the other person would then ask who Donna was , or would that be cheating in this game?
I think if the character’s Eve and David were more than filler or to prove a point this show could have more than one season. What was great about the original cast were the characters were fully formed with particular actors in mind. Here the only characters fully formed or already known are Frasier, Lilith, Freddie and Alan. Everyone else is sounding board and there’s no ricochet. The writers need to create these characters in such a way the actors can embody them instead of just performing words. David seems to be like one of these characters. They need to give him more personality and a few eccentricities like they did Niles at least a good backstory like Roz from the original series. If David were to have the physical comedy of Niles but the attitude of Daphne it might be more believable. For now Ye seem like the spineless Niles without the zing banter and eloquence.
I hated that Roz, who has a Texas accent, was supposed to be from Wisconsin. My friend Carol, who truly is from Wisconsin, came to Texas in the late 80s. We loved making fun of her accent. She liked using brown, paper "begs" to carry her groceries. And, once when checking out at the grocery store, she said, "Oh, no! We forgot bread." The clerk said, "What's his last name? I can call for him on the intercom."
Stupid line. No normal Brit would care to know the reindeer names in one of the most irritating Christmas songs in history. This show is nothing compared to the original. Could have been okay, but the writers are awful. Cast is too.
I remember the time my farmer friend in Louisville, ohio ran over a little segment of our alpaca fence , i was like I didn’t know farmers made mistakes , the gentleman gave up eggs and meats for breakfast and started a fruit and veggie diet, he’s probably still on it with his wife and we talked of a big universal concert with bands from all the great classic rock days, on his farm land ,we’ve got to save the farmers dirt from madman Billy gates and i hope he’s not pressuring my friends like don smith from rootstown and Ken wells to buy their sacred and precious land , after all those guys have done for their community , we don’t deserve that as a society and neither do they or their families
Oh myyyyy…..they are ruining Fraser the original….all these old people…NO. Iam sorry nooooo….leave it as it was….anything for a buck…😢. To much plastic can’t recognize characters any more…pathetic. Imagine 25 years later Friends trying this…pathetic.
