All of the journey of, Tony, as he attempts to do the impossible and tries to break par within his first year of actually playing golf. Can you do it? Probably not but we'll find out
I broke 100 immediately when I realized I was swinging way too hard at the ball, instead of just swinging through the ball and I played every hole with the intention of leaving myself with a par putt if possible and a bogey putt at worst. I was still firing at greens when the opportunity was there but giving myself that extra stroke on the tee box kept me from trying shots I don't have in my toolbox. I hit a long iron off all but one tee, kept myself in the fairway or close to it and didn't put myself OB off the tee. That was the game changer for me.
Yes! That's the way I broke 90 for the first time. Swing smooth and club up to get it close to the green if not on. And then short game takes over. Realizing I didn't need to hit it 280 off the tee every time with the risk of hitting it OB to still make pars.
Love this! Back when I played regularly, doing the PBR method (without knowing what it was) whenever I got frustrated really helped me break that 90 barrier consistently. Now, I’m picking things up again after nearly 20 years and will have to be really patient in my mental game. Great advice!
Bro this is awesome. I’ve been golfing for 5 months and shot 84 for my best round. Also we have basically the same yardages and we’re the same age. I’m subscribing to my long lost twin
If I’m tryna get a new homie into golf or teach someone, then nah no roasting. But if we’re at the same level or putting money on a game… oh yeah I’m talkin! 😂
@@Scrub_Jake oh I am... Lot of golfer friends in my phone began as random dudes I got paired up with who asked if I wanted to play again sometime, after our first round as strangers. We just stfu when we're birdie hunting & stick the pin from 160 out to keep the score in the low 80s. I've always been silent when any player is at address. Hell I dont even run the gas cart if any golfer near me is swinging, in any group, lol....maybe that's overkill. Talking is fine....just not during the swing... To each their own though, enjoy your weekend and keep swingin'!
Yeah it's a great thought to really get yourself present again into what you need to do at this moment. I teach similar ways of thinking to a lot of clients so I applied it to golf and it works for me
You need to keep practicing your close chipping (less than 10 yards off the green), 50+ balls, 2-3 times a week. Also your putting with 3+ balls for about 30mins before and after every game. That putter, it looks like a gimmick to me, does it feel comfortable, it just looks awkward to me. It will take a while to drop every single stroke off you handicap, it is easy to get to 18, then to 16, now it will be a fair bit harder to do. Keep it up.
@@GolfTherapist - Keep practicing with it then. As they say, Drive for Show, Putt for Dough. How many greens do you hit in regulation? Not many I am guessing, that is why you need to be able to chip close enough to give yourself a better chance of 1 putting more often than not to make par.
If you go to :07-:09 of your video and go frame by frame, you'll see your clubface is extremely open. Its a cupped lead wrist, leading to you having to time up the face. You have good trail flexion of the trail hand, so what i would recommend is to strengthen your lead hand grip, and focus on squaring the club using your forearms, and not your wrists and hands. Everything else looks good!
@@GolfTherapist try not to think about the lead wrist. Focus on flexing the trail wrist back as far as you can with a slower smoother swing and relaxed hands and arms.
Damn this is dope. Grew up in Jersey but living in ny now and just got into golfing about a month ago. I’ll have to get to Shady Rest shoot a round and photos for their IG…thanks for making this dude!
Keep your left shoulder and left hip closed as long as possible while dropping the club straight down at the top. Come to Temecula, California, and ill fix you in 10min. Temecula...winery after winery after winery!!!!
Law of motion says for every action there’s an equal and opposite reaction. Your power application is causing a reaction of a jump in the swing plane and poor path integrity. Simply put your applying power from the top down instead of from the ground up. Very common, however. Stay safe and keep swinging!
Just from me playing smarter and using a texas wedge more, I've went from shooting 100+ in my first year of playing to in year 3 I shot a 86 last week, goal is to break 85 this year, and improve on the putting and chipping. Smart shot always best
Nice video! I'm a similar skill level so I can relate to a lot of this 😁 One bit of advice - get a qualified instructor that you like. I tried on and off for years to learn on my own, from books, videos, etc. What I didn't realize is that very rarely is mechanical advice useful for you specifically. Once I found a good pro I understood the 'why' when I made a bad shot. I knew what to work on. This saved me a lot of time, money, and frustration in the long run. Keep at it!
I Will describe how on this video to follow up my comments on the short. You taught yourself to walk in well under a year. You became a scratch walker in no time. What is the difference between learning to walk and learning golf? The answer is very simple. Most are trying to learn a golf swing with their conscious mind. We learned to walk with the subconscious mind. So, turn the learning of a golf swing over to the subconscious mind and be shooting in the 70s within a year. It’s as simple as that. At Gravity Golf, we know how to instruct you to turn it over to your subconscious mind, which we know is far more powerful than the conscious mind.
Never happen especially after seeing your ability ...when your hands are bleeding and your still a 15 handicap let us know how it worked out for ya?!.!?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Read the above comment and the replies. It can be done by anyone if you practice correctly. You are correct for 95% of people that simply practice their mistakes in their regular mode.
We proved it with three D1 graduate athletes, that were terminal in their own sport, in our Tour Express Program in Boca Raton in 2019. The answer is yes, if they practice correctly.
@@GolfTherapist David Lee. Gravity Golf. All three participants, 1 man & 2 women, 2 of which had never touched a club & the other very little when she was young, came out shooting from par to 2 or 3 over, at Boca Lago CC. The program was a one year, one time only experiment to prove just the fact that it could be done.
@@xv1670 I do it everyday. If you don’t want to believe it, that’s up to you. To date, Gravity Golf still holds the record for the longest running infomercial on the Golf Channel and I personally, as a certified Master Instructor for Gravity Golf, have taken many beginners to single digit in a relatively short amount of time. The D1 athlete part doesn’t matter except for the fact that they knew how to put in the practice time. We showed them how and vala, low single digit. That said, there’s a big difference between low & high single digit handicappers. 😉
