I remember when I first started playing this on my SMS, even though the sound quality wasnt as good as the mega drive version, it still was good enough to make me consider this a top5 SMS/genesis classic.
The soundtrack on this game (and across the entire series of games in general) Absolutely blows me away. They really nailed that post apocalyptic setting, with the music going from moments of battle to the vast emptiness of a lonely wasteland. Reminds me of old School Blizzard OST's, like Warcraft, StarCraft, etc.
A family friend passed away two days ago. We used to play Street of Rage 1 co-op for hours and hours, we loved the game and it's soundtrack. I'm going down my memory lane and I'm listening to the soundtrack.

Not as popular as SOR, this sound represents a break in paradigms, a totally crazy and innovative environment, not everyone understood or will understand
One of the things nostalgia goggles can't explain. None of us ever got to truly experience these games probably. 13" JVC international model TV with built in speakers played as low as we could get it so our parents wouldn't know we were playing it (didn't like it). But listen to the tracks now on good modern equipment and DAMNNNN, all you can thing is "we didn't even know how good we had it then" is the only conclusion you can reach.
Inga Rasen is one of the longest tracks and it only used once for a fight that doesn't even last long. It also sounds like it's stitched together from various ideas. I'm curious about the history of this track. The whole soundtrack is awesome, one of my all time favorites
