Vesta's voice is soooo powerful!! The song "Over and Over," which she crafted with Brian McKnight, is probably my favorite. The album it is from ("Everything N More") is her masterpiece IMO.
So sad seeing videos of Teena Marie, Vesta, etc performing before they passed. They looked so healthy and vibrant and then they were taken away too soon!

Bless this woman's soul. As a kid I liked it, tho this jam was sad. I knew great jams, tho! This performance if you notice, she change the words to emphasize the realization of the pain and realization of re living this song with each break up, or deal not gone gone through,etc. Vesta put in work and deserved a lot more credit and management/PR. Her timing in the game was split between Anita, Sade, Patti, Toni Braxton, budgets going to New Jack Swing, etc.... This performance especially @ 40 and lived a lil bit, is, to me saying "I'm tired y'all. A lotta shyt I've been congratulatory on, got passed up, from music, men and the headache of those 2 Entangled!" She was tired, the heart breaks, and music fk,the giving and not getting. Bless her and her liniage. She was tired of all the bull shit, and she signed out hella real as shown♥️
I realize now what's wrong...She is having considerable trouble breathing. I guess that is kinda obvious but all these years I couldn't get past the feel of this video in order to see the details. 😢

Hard to watch this. The emotions are strong and she was not in good shape to perform. Did she pull it off? Yes, because she was Vesta but she had the bar raised so high for herself that on this particular day, she could not reach it. RIP Vesta Williams
I did not know Ms.Williams personally. Looking through a glass door at a person cannot compare to having a relationship with the individual but she never SEEMED false. Her vibes were genuine, witty, smart..... It is STILL heart wrenching to see some of her performances and interviews and to hear reports of her private sadness. Did someone hurt her so deeply? I wonder at the lyrics of ' Congratulations '. Don't know who wrote it but she co-produced it.
Roger Porther she always talked about how she felt lonely but she really was devastated with how her life and career went in a total different direction... Her Love And Passion Besides Being A Mother,Sister, And Daughter Was Singing And It Really hurt her that the industry basically snatched her entire career from her on top of ppl taking her money... that’s enough to send you into depression especially giving up a home you had for 18yrs Going Through Boyfriends... Marlo, I watched ''Unsung' featuring Vesta Williams which was done just a months before her death, Vesta talked how she and Producer Tena Clark was put into a room to write songs and tena who had produced Vesta in the past has the one word in her head ''Congratulations'' and together they wrote that song together... if you ever get the chance to see Unsung It will give you the whole insight on Vesta including a glimpse into her personal circle of friends, her daughter and more...
To her credit as a performer, this is the ONLY time she EVER came off this unsure onstage. I remember my cousin calling me after this performance and saying "Something is wrong with Vesta. I just saw her perform and she was off and she's NEVER off". I really thought noting of it until the next week when she died. Then I pulled this up. After I watched it, I was shocked that a louder alarm wasn't sounded after this. Now, five years later, it's even more eerie than the year it happened. Despite the testimony at the end, this entire performance has a cloud over it. I never saw her this off-kilter in her whole career. That alone should have raised a HUGE red flag that something (be it physical, emotional or spiritual) was definitely NOT right.
@@juiceynorris9587 That is the sad part. I think she knew about her heart condition and never told anyone how serious it had gotten. They reported the situation as if she never knew, but she clearly knew something. You can feel it. LOVED Vesta! Still do!
I just read I shared the same bday with Vesta Dec.1st so I'll always remember her.. Imma eat a slice of yellow cake with buttercreme icing in her memory sounds good as her voice..
How she got through this performance god only knows you can see the pain n hurt as she sang this song i know the pain and have never been able to get through this song with out crying but i have moved on and hope he is as happy as i am now life does go on and RIP MISS VESTA U R TRULY ONE OF THE BEST AND NEVER GOT THE CREDIT YOU TRULY DESERVED
