Those Skip turns were excellent to see and the person who performed them was certainly capable of handling the movements. Although it does take a bit of Windsurfing experience to ensure that you can perform them they proved that they had a sufficient amount of skills and both their lightness and agility was of benefit to them also.
You are lucky sailing in warm blue skies. Is the wind on Kefalos bay mostly the same as at Kos international airport or more windy or less ? On wind finder report for last week it showed Sunday 16th June and Saturday 15th June with over 15 knots in the afternoons but previous 4 days with light wind under 15 knots. More good days in July ? Nearly always NW / NNW offshore winds in that bay ?
It's quite a lot more than at the airport... You can use Windguru to find the forecast by searching Kefalos and we normally add around 5 knots to get a proper estimation of the wind! July is the strongest wind days, and always N/NW in the bay so the water is always flat! A great spot if you've never been 🙂
Cheers Rob! Yeah just straps straight to the harness, super easy to take on and off and doesn't damage the harness... The pole is just an old racing sail batten with a GoPro mount epoxied into the end!
I have a surgeon on one knee and I do windsurf, I'm 31 yo. I believe if you mix the windsurfing with some exercise to strengthen the knees you will be fine.
@@Ollianderson I’m definitely going to get some bigger kit for summer blasting ! Been winging for a few years and kinda getting a little board with it now 😮
Takes me back to my recent past of living on Fuerteventura and spending all day doing this in just shorts. Quite happily clock up 50km or more a day. Hot sun, warm sea, constant wind. Bliss.
Absolutely brilliant Olli. Makes me feel like I was there! Great to see your 'fails' as it shows us lesser mortals that it's 'normal/natural' to end up in the water if you're pushing it. Good to hear you talking about wind awareness as it's happening too.Great stuff. Cheers
@@Ollianderson thanks - just twigged who you are having checked out the website - I’ve been out there last 2 years in Sep. We arrive on 18th so perhaps able to do the last 3 days?
Hahahaha it's actually not nearly as hard as it sounds... The GoPro mouth mount has a ridge that means it kind of sits behind the teeth, so you barely have to bite it! Obviously have to be a bit careful if you slam hard
I’ve used a lot of brands… would compare this to the psycho from last year! Very fast, pops well but is definitely a board for more ‘advanced’ freestyle - learning the basics will be difficult due to how short it is!
