@ForrestFab
@ForrestFab 7 месяцев назад
Axels where aftermarket billet 28 splines, just the style that are cut to length, I let a local diff guy know how long I wanted them and he did them for me , that part is easy, once you have the housing done with the diff centre in sick a tape measure down the diff tube until it goes in where the axle does and bottoms out, measure from there to where the wheel bearings shoulders up against, that’ll give you the hard measurement of the axel length to the inside face of the bearing, then subtract about 5mm I think for memory , so the axel has clearance inside the diff centre where it slides in so that it’s not bottoming out :) Also if you are going to buy billet axels straight up you can go 31 splines for pretty much no extra cost, just change the side gears in the diff centre Also don’t even bother fuckinh around with resplined axels, they are dog shit

I wanna do a Barra Turbo in an XG Panno. But I wanna use as much factory stuff as I can, like AU2 bigger brakes on the front and a trutrac in the borgy and 31 spline axles and just do rods and valvesprings on the engine as I'm not going for insane power. But want to stay auto as riding clutches just gets a pain in stop and go as much as I like manuals, and I might have to get it converted to a 4L60E as no one can guarantee they can build a BTR that will live over 600hp. I might put Chrysler US police rims and the dog dish caps on it, as they are the same bolt pattern as domestic ford and I think they would like plenty smart on a panno or ute personally..

Hey mate I spoke to you a while back on the brobo vs bandsaw. I still haven't got one yet. Ive decided I really need a swivel head. And ive been playing with my friends hafco swivel head bandsaw. I Can't really I say I like it and think its very accurate. Great for multi material cutting though and that was my plans for multimaterial cutting Ive just looked at a 400 size brobo in single phase. Not cheap at 8 grand. But could allow me to multimaterial cut. The cutting size is 100mm. So cutting 40x40 is 2 flat and 2 high. Total of 4 pieces I can cut at once with the 400 size... I got the option of buying a 350 size 3 phase and messing around with one of those VFD converters ive heard about ? Or just spend the money ive saved to get the 8grand brobo in 400mm in single phase. At single speed of 42rpm. Id also like to ask because on the website it says a slower speed recommended for cutting galvanized? All my steel is GAL. Hence the 3 phase models are 2 speed? Does this honestly really matter? Thanks man i appreciate your kindness and knowledge. Don't know who else I can ask about these things except hafco themselves and they are not very good.
@ForrestFab
@ForrestFab Год назад
Hey hope ya well! So you were happy with the bandsaw? You said you “cant” but wasn’t sure if it was a typo? Um honestly man I had a shit experience on my brobo trying to cut 100x50x1.6 gal last night actually, when you get to the thinner stuff and have the 100 side vertically the blade was constantly grabbing due to the flex of the thin material which I managed to get around by laying it down which still was a pain , this is something you will not encounter with a bandsaw and even then you have lots of different blade with small and big teeth to change between for much cheaper then the brobo Another thing to think about is the brobo Will most likely have a smaller clamping area which would mean a bandsaw will be much better in the area Honestly for what you are doing I’d run with a bandsaw, much cheaper, you can also cut 60degrees on most I think where as brobo is limited to 45 I think But yeah, I’d be going the bandsaw, and in regards to cutting speeds with gal I’ve never really looked into it too hard, always cut it on fast speed on our bandsaw at work and my brobo is single speed and it cuts 50x50 gal like a champ so I wouldn’t stress to much about that

Hey man i just wanna ask do you rate your brobo saw. I do rural fab projects at home like sheep pens. Ramps etc. On my spare time... i want something better than those chinese cold cut saws like fein or makita . Evolution... you know? Cant decide between a hafco bandsaw swivel head or the brobo or MACC. Just curious how much you paid second hand for the brobo... i really dont cut anything bigger than 75x75 hence im leaning towards brobo over the hafco bandsaw. Do you have 3 phase in the shed aswell? Id have to run a converter on it as im single phase. Cant bring 3 to my shed as im rural
@ForrestFab
@ForrestFab 2 года назад
Hey man! Yeah stuff that Chinese stuff they normally give up after a bit of hard time! Haha I love the Brobo, my reason I went that way was mainly room as my shed is pretty packed, but also their accuracy on anything 75x75 and below, it great for making jigs and benches or anything that requires precious miter joins as I’ve found that with a nice sharp blade the cuts don’t walk as much as a band saw blade will, but I also like ability to cut heavy bar stock for my lathe again without having to take up the room that a bandsaw does I think it all depends on how fast you want to produce what you are making, if you are making multiple units for some cashies I’d probably go the band saw because you can stack a heap of lengths together and cut multiple at once, where as the brobo is very limited and even with a 450mm blade which I think is the largest Brobo you can get (and most expensive) you’d probably only get 2 75x75 cut at the one time (I assume, don’t quote me on it) Plus for them type of projects you have a fair bit of tolerance so I’d be going the bandsaw If it was myself , also I have found bandsaws are a bit nicer to cut tube with if you do much of that Nah I’m on 240v which sucks! And is the reason my brobo cost me $4000 and it’s only a 350mm diameter blade I think , it hurt because they are like $1000 when the are 3 phase!
@djdanzy
@djdanzy 2 года назад
@@ForrestFab awesome thanks for the reply. Yep its just cashies I make and sell fb marketplace. And gumtree Upon thinking the bandsaw would be much better option for me like you said. Im always cutting for rectangle type frames in 25x25 and some 40x40s. The model is a hafco BS-7Ds. Its a swivel type head which I really want. I hate moving stock around the shed with a swivel vice only. It has a rectangle capacity 90c cut at 215 x 178........ at a 45degree cut the height is max at 85mm I always mitre 45 for square frames so i could cut 3 x 25mms in there or two 40x40s at once... The saw is also single phase for $3k. I know hafco is a taiwanese brand but iv seen them at many FAB shops over the years and the mitres look good The other model is 7 grand. Three phase. And has a 45 mitre height capacity of something crazy like 230mm.... way too much money for small fab What you think? You know of any other brands to look at? Thats probly the maxiumum size saw I could go on single phase with a swivel head. The other option is buying a swivel VICE which allows me to cut a shit load more at a 45 which is 4 grand.. Probaly all at once. Its on wheels so id have to drag it to the middle part of the shed to feed lengths of 8metres into it ya know? We use a brobo at tafe. Its such a nice saw. You would be givin it to your kids they last a life time.
@ForrestFab
@ForrestFab 2 года назад
@@djdanzy nah no prob man! That’s good you have got a side hustle cracking! It makes a massive difference indeed! I haven’t really used the swivel head type like the bs-7ds, but our cold cut saw is a similar set up and the one thing I don’t like is that if I’m cutting like a heap of little spaces or something the work area where the steel sits is very small! But depends what you are doing and if the swivel head give you more angle adjustment then it might be what you want, only other thing I’m not a huge fan of on that saw is that it’s belt driven, I would 100% avoid that and get something that’s got a gearbox and runs a VSD to control the cutting speed, will save you so much time instead of having to fuck around with belts all the time We have a eb-320ds at work and I have used that for 4-5 years with no drama’s and I enjoy it, I frequently use g clamps to clamp plates to the base plate of the saw to do small repetitive cutting jobs If I were going to buy a bandsaw I would go the eb-280dsv, it’s like 5k but for the amount of extra cutting you can do compared to a Brobo which will be around 3-4K anyways , it makes spending the extra 1k highly worth it, And you could cut about 25 lengths of 25x25 at once Prob do about 10 or more lengths of 40 if you stack them So it’ll give you go ability to scale up in the future if you get some big jobs
@ForrestFab
@ForrestFab 2 года назад
@@djdanzy also one other thing if you do go the eb280 dsv really take care of the degree scale under neath, because ours gets used so much it has started to fade the degree marks from all the metal chips being wiped past it from being cleaned so yeah, just be careful of that, that’s about all I can think of though! Anyways man I gota get back to it, feel free to check out my Instagram , and message me on that in the future if needed
